Delistings/trades at end of the season

Amazing that two hours after the game there are only two posts on this thread. I am used to two pages in the first hour after a game!

I guess Garland, Watts, Howe, Dawes and co can keep their jobs this week.

Paul Roos made mention in his post match presser that to take the next step we need to add an A+ midfielder

Perhaps the rumours are true about Prestia coming are true :roos:

So Prestia's gone from a B grader to an A+ grader in a week, in your calculations, mate? ;)

One good game from Howe isn't enough. I still hope they move him on.

Dawes has been serviceable for a couple of weeks now. Hoping he finds his niche and can continue to work around half forward... he'll never be a deep marking forward with those hands.

So you rate him as a A grader now

Dion prestia.. the first player to go from b grade to a plus in a week without even playing. Well done son

No i rate him the level below, B+. Hes an absolute gun.

A grader is reserved for the true superstars

Edited by hogans_heroes

Roos probably wouldn't come out and say that unless something was in the works.

Who knows, maybe Prestia's all a sideshow?

So how can you equate Roos talking about getting an A+ midfielder to being about Dion Prestia when you only rate him as a B+?

Logic doesn't compute, although why I'm applying logic to your posts is anybodies guess.

Because people have different ways/grades of rating players?

I just want him at the MFC, hes a legit gun

As Ricky Gervais would say:

"Your explanation is the theological equivalent of saying 'look over there' and then running in the opposite direction."

Agree with the last part though.

Whilst I don't wish to 'pick' on him, can some of you watch Garland today and tell me what he's adding to the side today?

He's already fluffed kicks. One of which was to a player less than 15 metres away on his own.

Do people see how one-dimensional our backline is?

Garland has value through FA. We need a different skill set in our side and in our backline.

Watch Garland for the rest of the day and you'll see what I mean. He is insignificant. Irrelevant.

There's lots to like about Colin Garland except for his kicking. He actually kicks floaters not dissimiliar to how Cale Morton used to and Gaspar also. If you watch him closely, he makes contact with the ball right on it's point (when the ball is vertical) as opposed to the sweet spot behind the point. Hence, too many up and unders. I used to do same in the shite leagues.

Who GAF if Prestia's B+, A or A+. Really...

We need quality mids badly, and have for years. If he comes to Melbourne I'll be ecstatic.

Prestia or if that fails, OMeara. If that fails and 18 of our senior players get done for steroids, Morton...the brother.

don't want anyone from gc

Wouldn't it be all so much easier if we could get our hands on the all knowing file that grades all players A through to F, would make recruiting so much easier.

I heard today from someone who knows Cam Pedersen that Jeremy Howe is gone

Begs the question why the f he keeps getting a game (and yes he played well today)

Begs the question why you would believe it so blindly too.

The club knows what it is doing.

I'm not saying I believe it blindly

But on form Howe should have been dropped a loooong time ago.

Just throwing this up.

Swans have too many mids in the same mould and need some new blood in defense. Would they be interested in Fitzy??

Maybe, but his game today shows why he should be kept in the side. No one else at Casey can play like he can.

Correct.

Also, not a forward's [censored] - too lazy.

Needs a job to mind a man, therefore defence all the way for me.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
