I think you'll find this is a clever bit of misdirection from Roosy.

Would agree with that.

In a shallow draft Roos may prefer to get an FA in instead of a comp pick, if Garland goes.

For those interested here is the list of 2015 FA's http://www.afl.com.au/trade/free-agency

Not many goodies left for Roos to choose from.

Kreuzer is in negotiations with Carlton

Leuenberger, Selwood and Dangerfield tipped to go to Geelong

Suckling has been linked to Lions

Roos is probably creating a smokescreen with his FA comments!

Probably has some surprises in store!

What MFC needs to do now, after last weeks debacle, is look at who they should take at number 1 draft pick

Perhaps we need an early draft thread

We're not a good footy club yet, but we're not the worst in the competition. There is no way that we'll be finishing last on the ladder this year.

Demonland is so ridiculous. Last week people were talking about winning 8 of the last 9 and squeezing into the finals, and this week people are talking about winning the spoon.

GTG some here were talking like that certainly not me!

Lets revisit after Sundays game OK??

I've tipped against us this weekend as I think Brisbane have been in good form of late without much reward. This weekend's result won't impact my belief that we won't finish on the bottom. Bottom four, probably, but not bottom.

I hope we get him. He's a real emerging talent and he's had the opportunity to learn a bit from the master.

If it was anyone else other than BBO, I wouldn't have to check. But surely you're not referring to Karmichael, are you?

Jay Clark thinks that the Lions should play hardball with Aish, and I agree with him. I hate the idea that a player can select his own club after two years in the system, and the club that drafted him usually receives unders in return despite having significantly invested in the player.

He also suspects that Carlton are frontrunners for his services.

Tom Boyd did it after one year.

Did Roos say that we'd be heavily involved in FA specifically, or just in trading more generally?

Unless of course he was talking about targeting 2016 FAs a la Dangerfield last year.

we will finish with 5 or 6 wins which will leave us 2nd or 3rd off the bottom i think we will be above the lions on For and Against and the the Blue's to get the spoon

I don't think it's vague, he stated we will go after FA's.

Which is just stating the obvious and not offering up any details/information

May as well be saying that the grass is green and the sky is blue

You'd prefer he comes out and says exactly who we are targeting?

Coaches won't discuss contracted players.

I prefer people not jumping to conclusions over passing comments that mean nothing

How do you know they mean nothing olisk?

Pretty obvious pot shot at the system but also a silly thing to get supporters hopes up and then not bother.

Pot.Kettle.Black.

Wonder what bigfooty would give us for olisik?

They'd make us keep paying his contract.

Shop him around to Bomberblitz instead?

I notice Will Langford still hasn't re-signed with the Hawks, and it doesn't seem like happening anytime soon.

Wonder if Roosy has our list manager chasing a Joey Kennedy style raid on the Hawks.

Not ruling out trading a top pick for an A-grader.

Can't let the top clubs have the free agents all to themselves.

Yeah, riveting stuff.

I had an emerging talent just a couple of weeks back... new girl around the corner. that did it.

brought out the worst in moi.

but then read about this flogging of a dead horse, & alas, what a waste.

Better run that past me again 'luded.

I can take or leave K Hunt.

Better run that past me again 'luded.

I can take or leave K Hunt.

...lucky Mr Hunt wasn't born German around the time of 2nd WW.

On todays form in the VFL, Hunt should earn another year on the list. His pace is appealing.

To update the likely list turnover:

Gone - Mckenzie, Bail, Fitz, M Jones/ Riley, Terlich.

Retired - Jamar

Likely trade - Toumpas, Howe.

Paul Roos made mention in his post match presser that to take the next step we need to add an A+ midfielder

Perhaps the rumours are true about Prestia coming are true :roos:

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
