my team when in form...

Fbacks: Jetta, TMac, Garland

Hbacks: Salem, Dunn, Grimes

Centr's: Vince, Jones, Lamumba

Hf'rwds: Brayshaw, Dawes, Kent

Ff'rwds: Garlett, Hogan, Frost

Follwrs: Jamar, Tyson, Viney

Intchge: Cross, Newton, VandenBerg, Howe

current depth: Pederson, JKH, Hunt, Toumpas, Stretch, Michie, McKenzie, Riley, Spencer, Fitzpatrick, Gawn, Bail, MJones, Terlich,

Still a gun midfielder or two short of being a really good team. Hopefully, we make some serious plays come trade/free agency season.

yep just thought I'd throw a reminder out there that not all is lost, at this point. so no point in pressing the self-destruct button.

we are on the way, but there are a lot of holes in our list, & we are thin on throughout the 23 Yrs to 26 Yrs age bracket, at this point.

I'd like to see others best 22 from those who have taken the field for us in 2015, in either a Casey or Demons jumper.

Hard to take serious any "best 22 when in form" without including Watts in the team or even in the 14 depth players mentioned...

Also i don't think Grimes is best 22 anymore.

well, put yours up deanox if you think that way. it doesn't have to be complete if you can't find enough talent.

Fair call. I thought you did pretty well except for what I mentioned but here is my best 22 on talent/when in form:

Fbacks: Jetta, TMac, Garland

Hbacks: Salem, Dunn, Lamumba

Centr's: Vince, Jones, Watts

Hf'rwds: Brayshaw, Dawes, Kent

Ff'rwds: Garlett, Hogan, Pedersen

Follwrs: Jamar, Tyson, Viney

Intchge: Cross, JKH, VandenBerg, Howe

Established depth: Frost, Newton

Known quantity depth (i.e. may be moved on): Grimes, Trengove, Michie, McKenzie, Riley, Spencer, Fitzpatrick, Bail, MJones, Terlich.

Developing potential depth: Petracca, Hunt, Toumpas, Stretch, Gawn, OMac, ANB, Harmes, King, White

The problem is we really don't have much established depth. Players we are happy to take a spot in the 22. Most of the South is the clearly not up to it basket or very under developed kids.

Overall I'm not unhappy with that 22. We need more quality mids and a better ruck, but at least the 22 players in this list are of afl standard.

Not a bad team Clint. What are the chances of this team happening sometime in the near future? Not a remote possibility knowing our injury count year in year out.But here's hoping it could be a reality. Queen's Birthday V C/wood would be ideal.

IMO our best 22 going into 2016

Jetta Frost Dunn

Salem Mcdonald ????

Vince Viney Lamumba

Petracca Hogan Kennedy-Harris

Garlett ?????? Kent

?????? Tyson Jones

Brayshaw ?????? ?????

Stretch

Note: if fit Trengove probably takes a spot on the bench

So when in form, Watts isn't in our best 36 players?

Foll: Jamar N. Jones Tyson

Int: Cross Brayshaw Newton Howe

Had my doubts about Frost, but should he fill his potential he's very important as Garland and Dunn are undersized to play on most second talls. Pretty spot on team here as it doesn't look like we're gonna play two ruckmen much

On what I've seen this year.. based of form.

Fbacks: Jetta, TMac, Garland

Hbacks: Salem, Dunn, Lamumba

Centr's: Vince, Jones, Howe

Hf'rwds: Brayshaw, Pedersen, Kent

Ff'rwds: Garlett, Hogan, Frost

Emerg: Wartts, Stretch, Dawes, Toumpus

Going into 2016:

FB: Jetta T. McDonald Dunn

HB: Lumumba Frost Salem

C: Vince Viney vandenBerg

HF: Kent Pedersen Watts

FF: Garlett Hogan JKH

Foll: Gawn N. Jones Tyson

Int: Petracca Brayshaw Toumpas Neal-Bullen

Emergency: Dawes, (midfielder recruited over the off-season), Garland

Depth: Stretch, Howe, King, Newton, Harmes, Trengove

With reservations:

1) I have dropped Cross as I see Petracca the future next year.

2) Also Gawn for Jamar for the same reason but hopefully we recruit another ruckman over the off-season.

3) Maybe we may gain another kpf and Pederson (first) and then Dawes become depth.

4) Also King is kicking goals in the Development League (6) which may translate to VFL and/or AFL after another preseason.

5) I haven't lost faith in Toumpas unlike some as having more potential x-factor than Newton

So when in form, Watts isn't in our best 36 players?

I wouldn't have him in my best 36.

Based on form, he plays 4 serviceable games per year.

That's 1 in 6. That doesn't read like any form I've heard of.

FB: Jetta T. McDonald Dunn

HB: Lumumba Frost Salem

C: Vince Viney vandenBerg

HF: Kent Pedersen Watts

FF: Garlett Hogan JKH

Foll: Jamar N. Jones Tyson

Int: Cross Brayshaw Newton Howe

Emergency: Dawes Gawn Grimes

Surely Garland is ahead of Grimes as an emergency? Or even good enough for a spot on the bench!

HF: Vandenberg, Hogan, Kent

FF: Howe, Pedersen, Garlett

FOLL: Jamar, Cross, N. Jones

INT: Brayshaw, Salem, Trengove

SUB: Petracca

EMERG: Dawes (cover for Hogan, Howe & Garland), Gawn (cover for Jamar, Pedersen, McDonald, Frost & Dunn), Grimes (everyone else)

Dangerfield & Leunberger as free agents at years end would make that 22 look a lot better. Maybe add Gorringe through a trade also and throw in Hardingham as a late draft pick assuming he avoids a drug ban and we trade out Howe & Watts.

Total accident, I didn't mean to leave him out.

Added in Garland at the expense of Howe who is playing like Frawley did last year but with his talent should be a top 10 player.

Players that could get a game now (although some not at AFL standard yet, and some may never be): Toumpas, Grimes, Trengove, Stretch, Mitchie, Riley, Spencer, Bail, M. Jones, Terlich, Fitzpatrick

Players to develop further to be considered for a game (the rest of the list): ANB, Omac, Hunt, King, White, Harmes

We are so settled from a best 22 it's not funny. Fact, 1 week ago the crouching Pedo was in nobodies best anything. Such exercises are futile

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
