Also, when was the last time the Pies played at Geelong? It has nothing to do with them having more members and not being able to get into the ground, because our 35000 can't get in either. The big teams are simply looked after and that is a fact.

A good example of that is Collingwood in 2006 - they received 9 prime time free-to-air games in that season after having a 5/17 record in 2005 (they also tanked in 2005 - lost their last 8 games after achieving 5 wins by round 14 of that season)

Carlton are receiving a similar deal this season after being a largely dismal outfit last year.

My understanding was as part of the last equalisation agreement all clubs INCLUDING the MFC agreed the AFL was a business and for the best interests of all...... the AFL could and would construct the most financially profitable fixture possible.

MFC has already received substantial monetary assistance to reinvest into our Footy Department ..... to rebuild our development coaching staff and increase our massively underfunded under resourced recruiting department. Essentially the AFL massively assisted in "rebuilding our engine".

We received a "grant" of 1.4 million in early 2013 and that's it (unless you can prove otherwise)

By contrast, Port Adelaide received a grant of $14 million from 2011 onwards ... Grants increase Port rescue deal to $14 million ... many might read that as $1.4 million vs $14 million.

The AFL possibly pointed PJ in our direction but there were and are plenty of other CEO's that can do as good a job.

As for Roos, we could have gone down the track of appointing an experienced coach on previous occasions but instead chose the rookie path.

Eddie is spot on. Eddie uses this platform to raise the real issue here, the academies, COLA.

McGuire has every right to ark up over this. The AFL cannot even get it right on the field, now it want to come to Collingwood and demand they hand out to bottom clubs.

So I see why Eddie is peeved. He has every right to be peeved, and he has a point as well. The league will be more equal if the AFL scraps COLA, and the academies.

McGuire highlights that the Bulldogs are as competitive as Collingwood, and it is hard to argue against that. Off field spending isn't all it is cranked up to be.

Eddie wants the AFL to get things right on the field and let clubs have their freedom off field, that is hard to argue against. Thank god this guy is around.

No, they split the ladder in 3 and say you play 2 from your group twice, two from another group twice and one from another group twice. Essentially it means they can still rig the fixture as they see fit however occasionally there will be an anomaly as in this year where Carlton and Essendon only play once because Essendon, Collingwood and Richmond all finished in the same third of the ladder. Fr my reckoning it would be the first time in over 20 years they haven't had a return fixture against each other and you can bet it wont happen for a long time to come.

Compare that Ti Melbourne who, while we get the Queen's Bday game each year, haven't played Essendon or Carlton at home more than once over the last 6 years. Haven't plated Richmond at home for a couple of years wither now. But guaranteed we will play Giants, Suns, Freo and Port at home every single year in addition to the other Non-Vic clubs. Gee I wonder why we don't make as much money from our games! If you want to compare crowds as well go back and do the maths, despite their far greater membership numbers the fact is those clubs don't draw that many more to games than we do, Richmond had only 22k or so against Freo and GWS last Year from memory. We also had one of the highest drawing games on Queens Bday, higher than Pies/Tigers on a Friday night for starters and we drew more against the Dogs on a Saturday night than the Bombers did against them on a Saturday night. Many of the arguments used to rig the fixture don't stand up to the evidence and if the AFL continue running these discriminatory policies then the least they could do is present a model which shows there are clear advantages to doing it their way rather than implementing a fairer schedule. I won't hold my breath though.

There is a reason why the AFL has an independent commission.

Believe it or not it is to make independent decisions for the benefit of the game. Eddie is one of 18 club presidents and the sooner the commission figure out what their commission is and how Eddie doesn't run it the better.

Wealth doesn't always correlate with hard work. Good fortune plays a part, and by definition any attempt at equalisation must take from someone and give to someone else. Either you let anything unskilful enough or unlucky enough die, or you accept that there's more to being wealthy than protecting what you have from everyone else.

If I have ten dollars and only need five, I'm okay with giving some of what I don't really need to someone else so that they can get back on their feet.
