yes if t was 5 years i might still discuss it, would you still whinge about it being discussed ?

I'm not sure "whinge" is the right word.

Would I look down my nose at you ?  Of course.  Life has so many things to ponder and that wouldn't be one of them.

To discuss whether he might stay or leave after the 5 years left on his contract ?

I think you'd be in a room by yourself.

Mentioned in the Sun today, that MFC and Hogan's Manager, are to meet to discuss an extension to his contract.

Hopefully his contract can be extended by 5 years and that will be one distraction removed.

how about you just not go around telling other people what they can/cannot talk about unless it's in an acceptable timeframe determined by you

Where did I tell you what you could or couldn't discuss ?

I just highlighted the banality.

ok then from now on i will keep an eye out on your posts and be sure to inform you politely that the topic you are discussing is, IMO, banal. I hope you don't find that annoying

Please yourself.

I suspect it's time to put you on ignore, like Stu.

That's awesome news if true.

Perhaps a 4 year extension that would take him to free agency eligibility??

I'd prefer a 100 year contract that would take him through to his next lifetime.

They sell it alright but it's about double the cost.

Not sure that would make much of a difference for Hogan, considering the coin he'll be on...

He would be mad not to renegotiate his contract. At the moment he is stuck, for the next two seasons, on the type of money offered to a player who may become be one of the power forwards of the competition. Now he could be on the money offered to a player who you know will be one of the power forwards of the comp.

It is just a question as to how many more years he will sign on for the opportunity to upgrade. My guess is an extra two years which will take him out to 2019.

oh no please don't

Obviously I, like everyone else, would love to see Jesse locked down for the long term.

However I can't for the life of me see the sense in him signing a 10 year deal.  How could Jesse, his manager or the MFC have any idea what sort of money players will be on in ten years time.  That'd be two broadcast deals from now when it's not inconceivable that player payments would be significantly higher than they are now.  Big money in 2016 won't be big money in 2024.

Would that encompass father/son and grandfather/son?

As the AFL strives for multiculturalism and inclusiveness, I predict it'll fall under the soon-to-be-revealed Religious Reincarnation Rule

If he turn out as good as I think he will I think we also need a husband/wife, uncle/nephew and an any blood relative ( or acquaintance) clause in the contract.

We wouldn't have got Weidemann on this basis...

Pay to read.. F Me!

I managed to get it up and read in full somehow. Cant now...  :/

Story was mainly about Frost moving forward, but there was a couple of paragraphs at the end that said what Redleg mentioned earlier.

Quotes I remember...

- Hogan and his manager in preliminary discussions

- Would be looking at $700,000+ per season which would make him one of highest paid players for his age in the game.

Doesn't sound like a long-term contract to me.

If we're offering him $700K we're lunatics. Don't turn around and [censored] when his manager puts talks off for the season.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
