Round 1 was fantastic footy across the board.

Looking forward to Round 2, particularly as we could see us sitting 2-0 and Geelong sitting 0-2 (i come from that way, so the hate is huge as their fans are painful bandwagon jumpers).

Also, please leave your praise for me below, as i have created a Game Day thread. Thanks H_H.

AFL tradition dictates that by the end of round 1 at least one coach must be under the gun.

This year it's Mick Malthouse whose neck is already on the line and it's not helpful that his most vocal critic is a former Carlton great ~ Mick Malthouse shouldnt be re-signed by Carlton as coach, says Mark Maclure.

Not only are Carlton people trying to take the Micky out of their coach, they want to take Micky out of Carlton.

He might get some respite on Friday night because the Blues take on the Eagles who have lost a big chunk out of their defence already and Carlton has a good record at Subiaco but I suspect that the pressure will continue to mount as the season unfolds unless there's a sudden turnaround in form.

Mick Malthouse says Channel 7 and network reporter Mark Stevens have an agenda against him

But the other clubs have taken a chunk out of their forward line.

Why don't we all start Round 2 game day threads? At the end of the day we can total up the number of replies in each and declare the winner the most popular poster on Demonland (for the week).

I hope Hawthorn absolutely obliterate the drug cheats by over a hundred points, to keep the demoralising culture at Windy Hill intact.

Love that the AFL tried to rig the fixture with the expectation of a topup team playing the early parts of the season, only to end up giving their full team the hardest start to the season one could imagine.

I haven't had a look at Essendrugs fixture, but is it possible they have "drawn" the harder team's first because the AFL knew they'd have the cheats good to go for the first month or so, and then when the stand-ins are required they get an easier run? Like they had us and GWS in the NAB, and then round 1 &2 last year's cup winners and runners up back to back?

Reckon this will be a tough round to tip.

Hawks the only certain thing in my book...

cant wait for the Hawk Bombers game

Hawks by 100 and Hird to get booed so bad he considers walking away from the game

Should be some good footy this weekend, with the Richmond-Bulldogs, Port-Swans, Coll-Adelaide and Freo-Geelong matches all shaping up as potentially great games.

What a shame to have the round kicking off again with a second-rate club like Carlton. Hope they get thumped tonight and Mick and Stevo get in a punch-up at the post-match presser.

Carlton look like getting smashed tonight. I need popcorn.

Not sure about that (hope youre right though)

While Calrton do suck, the Eagles wont be much better this season and are missing their 2 best key defenders

Early running says I don't know what I'm talking about.

It's actually been a good game to watch so far. Neither side will factor in the finals this year but at least we've seen a few goals early on for a change.

Watching it on the AFL Live app...

I bought a Demons Digital membership but it seems to work all the time - get on it!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
