I'll leave the detailed reports to those who know more about footy than me. Windy day, lots of work on running the ball out of defence ...

What struck me again and again was how different the game looks when the grown-ups arrive. Contested balll, players milling around and then bang - H. arrives, picks the ball up at speed and goes through the pack, or Crossy call for the ball, looks inside and laces out, or there's a scrubber kick into the forward line, and Garlett just doesn't look like fumbling ...

Makes me realise how far back we were - really good footballers win football games - we need to draft/develop/trade for a lot more.

But Go Dees - see you all on Saturday in time for the opening of the Robbie F. Wing (1:15, I think), and in the mean time you can use this to get you in the mood:

Hogan got through ... here is the rest:

No shows - Petracca and Trengove.

Hunt in rehab.

Fitzpatrick arrived late.

ANB nearly full session again, followed by a solid workout on bags and wrestling obviously building up confidence in his knee.

Spoke to Jayden Hunt, they have the cause of his back issue sorted, now just a matter of starting running again, has been doing bike and swimming, so hasn't lost his base fitness.

You could sense the tenseness and anticipation in all the players.

Howie still doesn't know whether he has done enough.

Dom Tyson is really looking forward to Saturday, feeling great.

Congratulated HL on his 200 games, really humble.

Told Jesse Hogan to just enjoy the game, nearly took my arm off shaking my hand.

Thanked Dave Misson for having 40 players ready to go two days from start of season.

Photobombed by Chris Dawes again.

Any questions feel free, pictures will be on my Twitter Demonpk later this afternoon.

Any word if Vandenberg will be elevated? Or if Brayshaw may get a gig? Cheers for the reports.

Damn, I've got pre games nerves already , I will be a basket case by Saturday.

I have the feeling Vandenberg has not been elevated as im sure TDI would have noticed an announcement and some cheering/backslapping at training.

Too many first gamers for the club this weekend to worry about that. Would nearly be quicker to congratulate those that are playing who have played in the jumper before.

I'm expecting 5 club debutantes.

From the body language I would be very surprised if either Brayshaw or Vandenberg are in

Another bit from training, when squad broke into groups, both Fitzpatrick and McKenzie trained with the derfence and Frost did more ruck work with Stafford

They too have a few new players debuting on Saturday. 2 recruits and 3 draftees.

Hearing Frost doing more work with the ruck coaches suggests he will play the back up ruckman role to Jamar and Gawn won't get a gig. I like Gawny but he hasn't done enough to get a gig over the pre-season.

Interesting to see that, at the moment, Vanders hasn't been elevated. Would have thought he was almost a cert to get a gig.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
