Dion Prestia

Prestia should be the likely target in 2016 year end trading. If he recovers and plays back to his 2014 form, MFC should offer $3 million over a 5 year contract.

He'll be worth a bit more than that I'd think, especially if he is back to his best next season.

I think when prestia said that he would like to fulfill his contract, indicated that he may be open to joining the dees at the end of 2016. Reckon we'll have a huge eye on him next season. Go tall in the draft, or Recruit a great 2nd string forward for jess, as a pitch to convince him to stay. That is, if we cannot snag an A grader. We just are not a destination club at the minute. But just wait in a year or 2..

well you better get off the hops, get onto some vitamins Middy.

Tyson hasn't done anything since mid-late last season IIRC.

is he happy or unhappy middy? are you his manager, or former teammate perhaps ? ?

it is the silly season after all.

I remember thinking geez this guy posts a lot and so looking at your post count this time yesterday morning and you'd just ticked over to 19,000.

Since then, in the space of 36 hours, you've posted 700 times.

Assuming you've slept for 8 of them, that means that on average you've posted once every 2.4 minutes on this forum since then.

I don't really know what to say to that, other than maybe it's time to get a job or a hobby.

If Prestia and Parker are considered 2016 targets well and good.

But for now "in 2015" we should be playing hard for Treloar, if not Aish.

I'm getting sick and tired of seeing these headlines with the vast amount of quality players opting for Geelong or Collingwood.

Let's face it, our list may not appeal too highly but neither does the Cats or Pies.

I don't know if their recruiting or list managing staff are simply better at selling their respective clubs. But I do know if we fail again (like in 2014) to land another quality player "or big fish" I'll be calling for a head.

Not sure about Prestia but Parkers agent said they are close to a deal with the Swans and he had no plans of playing anywhere other then Sydney. Aish is contracted and I think he will be at Brisbane at least until his contract finishes. Treloar I read somewhere has nominated Collingwood so if we go hard we would need to pay overs, which our club will not as it has roll on effects for future years list management.

This is the difference that we have seen with the new recruitment and list management at the Dee's its more methodical and planned. Sure getting a Big Fish would be great but not at the detriment to what the profile of player that has been planned through out the year. Josh talked about looking for 21-24 Year old competitive players, to compliment the age profile of our Club. That is pretty specific and some of those players fall into that category so you can be sure we went hard for them.

I reckon our list is not the issue for attracting players but the fact we have been a bottom team for so long, the only way to combat that, is to win more games.

Just out of interest whose head would you be calling for if there's no big fish reeled in?

Aish is currently out of contract just like Treloar.

Treloar is well and truly worth "overs" or the equivalent to that of any Hogan contract. I rate him a whisker better than Prestia.

Understandably our poor form since 2007 has made us less than desirable, but both Geelong's and Collingwood's 2015 season and their lists are quite short of spectacular (aside from the obvious Selwood and Hawkins, or Pendlbury, Elliot and Swan who nearing retirment).

So why or who at those clubs do they have selling themselves so well to attract the likes of Treloar, Aish, S. Selwood (brother), Dangerfield, and Smith?

My point is if we fail again this trade period our recruiting department must be looked into and re-evaluated for its deficiencies. Knee jerk reactions are not required but something must be done whether it be an appointment or replacement.

I'm actually pleased by the lack of trade information or leeks so to speak, I'm sure a lot of work has been done, but the club really needs to be able to sell itself like no other if we wish to succeed. Wins will do it, but it's high quality recruits this off season that will catalyse our success and contribute to easier recruiting for future free agency and trade periods.

I also understand my statement may be bold or harsh, but since the Schwab era I've decided to judge the club as I see fit rather than unconditionally support every decisio. If we fail again this trade period by having to go to the draft something must be done and improvments made.

Edited by ignition.

For any player seeking to go to Collingwood, I would imagine the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd pretty much every week could be a reason?

Especially coming from gws. He's likely to play in front of more people in round 1 for the pies then his whole career in Sydney's west!! Lol

Was listening to Triple M just before and Brian Taylor who knows the Prestia's said that he will be definitely coming home for sure. Didn't mention any club but found that interesting.

Now my question is would Prestia still be on our wish list? Why i say that is our abundance of inside mids now with Oliver emerging. I have been a huge advocate on getting him across but i just feel an outside class midfielder would be more of a need. Someone like a Josh Kelly would be more priority personally for me.

Plus free flowing pharmaceuticals

I think he's a shoe-in to come to a Victorian club. I'd love it to be us, you never turn down an opportunity to improve your list.

Already having a quality inside midfielder in Viney was the same reason we passed on Wines for Toumpas. How did that turn out?

If Prestia comes to the MFC that is one less midfielder the opposition doesn't have access too

Let's see how 2016 FA Pans out before people say he is not required.

I want a 30-40 year dynasty so we must choose the backbone very carefully...

I heard one media report during the week that Hawthorn and Richmond are the frontrunners with Gold Coast confident he will stay.

I think that was regarding Omeara

Jonesy is 28,  we have Viney & looks like Oliver will be the goods,  but only one game.  avb & all others are all still question marks,  too soon to tell howe they will end up.  or where?  Same for Hogan?

We need all the quality we can get.  All our kids are still unproven talents.

so yes,  Prestia has to be a go get.

We have too continue to add outside class runners,  but we already have some in our development pipeline.

No way that's to much he can earn 500 k a season we have plenty of young talent to take care of first and it's us or GC that's certain .

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
