Southwest Chicken Burger getting some air time.

Only thing Hutchy has gotten right so far.

Get around Jeffy dees, ffs! Could easily have blazed away but did the team thing. Well done.

Garlett is extraordinary.

Don't let the score fool you, Melbourne's ball use and decision making has been terrible.

This Bulldogs team is simply far worse.

What ? Think our ball use has been fairly good. On a side note our work in close is looking very good, work the ball out of congestion very well

We are playing against rabble, true, but I think we've been playing quite well. Bit harsh from you Clint.

I wouldn't say is been terrible, we've had some good passages. Our pressure has been good.

But point is valid they are terrible.

I agree we have far the stronger team but we must be doing something ok to kick 4 gls in 12 minutes.

Garlett passed the ball to Dawes instead of taking the shot. Would love to see MMs reaction at that

Lumumba doing an excellent Cam Bruce impersonation trying to kill teammates.

Matt Jones simply cannot execute a tackle.

Arms made of 2 minute noodles.

Jetta brilliance.

Jetta great play off half back

First comment in a gameday thread ever I think...

This is good!

Too bad nobody can see it!

Frost!!

I love the way we are finding space in attack, are moving the ball quickly and looking to attack.

How much of this is improvement in us vs an undermanned dogs side?

To be honest, I don't care. Why? Because I reckon it's 70% above the shoulders. We do it at training but have signed to do it for long periods in games.

Today will give us confidence that we can do it in games.

Don't get why the dogs have rested senior guys with already having injuries. This can't be good for their preparation or confidence

Garland's been pretty good.

Decent quarter

*its only pre season, don't get excited. Do not get excited dammit*

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
