Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Things we need to decide on:

  • Starting teams - discuss
  • Keep the current category based format or move to the traditional AFL Fantasy scoring - Happy with the categories but I'll go with the consensus.
    • If using the current category format are we happy with the current scoring system? (See above) - Wouldn't mind moving a point from Hit Outs to Handballs.
  • Draft date - consensus.
  • Draft order (Draft style - I propose snake) - yes.
  • Confirmation of rules - discuss.
  • Are you happy for me to be the commissioner? - yes.
  • Are you happy to do away with the current keepers and start from scratch? - yes.

this season ultimate footy has added multiple different categories, one of which is spoils and i think that would be a lovely one to add instead of accuracy.

but other than that i am not really fussed, whatever people decide i am happy with.

Things we need to decide on:

  • Starting teams (not sure what you mean)
  • Keep the current category based format or move to the traditional AFL Fantasy scoring
    • If using the current category format are we happy with the current scoring system? (See above) Not fussed - just saw MM's note that there are more categories so will check it out

  • Draft date Not fussed
  • Draft order (Draft style - I propose snake) That's fine
  • Confirmation of rules
  • Are you happy for me to be the commissioner? yes
  • Are you happy to do away with the current keepers and start from scratch? Is this because I finally got Pendles and all the fighting it caused? :) Happy to do away with it if that's the consensus

Something else I'd like to see is being able to choose teams up until the start of the game. With subs being named just before the game and emergencies not named for Sunday games until Saturday I personally think it's a necessity

Awesome work Robbo

I like the category based system, but am happy to revert to points if that's the consensus. Spoils would be a good addition to increase the value of the backline players - obviously am ok with the old Set up after a solid year last year

Giving up Fyfe, Rockliff, Jaeger would be hard to swallow but better than those giving up Ablett. Happyish to start over, draft needs to reverse order each round to even up those who get the pointy end draft picks

Draft night once some exposed form is out between 2nd and 3rd round NAB cup maybe??

As we have played under certain rules suggest we keep keepers & not to many changes .

As the AFL has gone backwards re many changes- keep it simple is my belief for our beloved Ultimate footy game.

I therefore prefer the way we have been playing.Keepers to be kept etc...

Please note, I don't understand- re Snake format, please explain but willing to go with whatever others want.

Go Robbo & thanks - will try to behave....hope no one upsets me.....but will try to hold off my retaliation.

I have since registered on Ultimate footy and seen date of draft re Wednesday, March 25 @8pm..I totally agree with this dateset.

Don't know what you mean by 'starting teams' but yes to all of those.

I don't care about the keepers there - put me in the 'whatever' crowd. From memory I had Sidebottom, ???, Hogan, and McDonald (NM). Maybe Greene...

And, I have to tell you, I will leave this place with a 'dead in the water' team if the league continues like last year.

Robbo. - strongly suggest you contact Range, Scarlett, HT etc..to see if they want to stay. Also noted Poita posted on Norm Smith League 2014 - offering to join.

Maybe, you could message him accordingly. Please note this post is suggestion only.

Take care

Hi All. I have received an invite from Robbo (thank you) and have joined the league as PC Demons. If original coaches return I am happy to make way, but I am looking forward to being involved. Obviously as a new coach I would prefer to start with a clean slate, but will happily go along with the majority either way.

I have found that as the commissioner I have the ability to remove participants. I will use this tool if required.

I am sure we'd rather lose the trouble markers instead of those who are just having fun.

Aaahhh....the smell of a new footy season just around the corner. Its great to be back.

Absolutely happy for you to be head honcho Robbo.

Dont care too much about how we score, as everyone has to face the same demons (pardon the pun).

Having keepers was a great concept, but considering the Pendles farce from last season, I am happy to can it altogether.

I'm signed up and ready to go.

Bring on 2015!

OK guys. We have 13 teams registered. We need one more player as we need an even amount of teams to be able to draft.

Here's the current league settings. Any objections?

Max Team Size: 20
Total Starters: 12
Total Emergencies: 5
Number of Bench Spots: 3
Emergency TOG Threshold: 0%

POSITION STARTERS EMERGENCIES

Backs (B) 3 1 emergency

Centres © 4 1 emergency

Rucks ® 1 1 emergency

Forwards (F) 3 1 emergency

Utilities (UTL) 1 1 emergency

Bench (BN) 3

POINTS BREAKDOWN

Scoreboard Impact (SCORE) 4

Goal Kicking Accuracy (%) 1

Kicks (KI) 3 Handballs (HB) 2

Marks (MA) 3 Hitouts (HO) 1

Tackles (TK) 3

Free Kick Differential (FD) 1

There are other categories such as disposal efficiency, spoils, rebounds 50's etc but these (and other features) cost $40. I haven't decided whether I'll pay for this yet.

DRAFT DATE: Currently Wednesday March 25 @8pm (Online, 30 seconds per pick) This gives us maximum time to prepare for the draft and clear your schedule for the night.

DRAFT TYPE: Snake - It works like this:

Player A gets pick 1
Player B gets pick 2

Player C gets pick 3

etc

etc

Player M gets pick 13

Player N gets pick 14

Player N gets pick 15

Player M gets pick 16

etc

etc

Player C gets pick 26

Player B gets pick 27

Player A gets pick 28

Player A gets pick 29

and so forth.

I will use some online software to generate a draft order.

KEEPERS: No Keepers!

TRADE VETOE: If you disagree with a trade, there is an option to 'veto' it in the game. If 1/3 of the league disagree with a trade it will be declined. The other alternative is that I have full control over confirming/denying trades, but I don't want this responsibility.

FIGHTING: This is a game amongst Melbourne supporters you have met on a Melbourne Supporters Forum. We ALL have this in common. We are here for the same reason. To support a football club and enjoy ourselves. Please don't take this too seriously and please don't feel the need to fight with each other. Last year sucked so please, IF YOU FIGHT YOU'RE OUT. Simple

Good Job Robbo - Most looks great

The only 2 minor points I would throw up for debate are :

* 30 seconds in between draft selections is not a long time? Wasn't it 60 seconds the last two drafts?

* 2 points scoring for handballs? This skill should be rewarded equally with kicks & tackles?

We seem to be penalising the ball magnet type of player.........

Neither are big ones, however I think deserve consideration before locking in everything for the 2015 season

I believe in the KISS principle as Robbo has suggested.Keep as Robbo outlines .And hope all of you behave like I will.Got the message loud & clear Robbo.Glad the culprits have almost disappeared .

Thank you for setting it up - we will have a great year and I will support you. Thanks for outlining rules upfront. That is "What caused my stink last year " .

No spoils for me - agree re 60 seconds & 3 points for kicks & handballs.

Still I do not understand "Snake " draft system, but will get it - on draft night....Wed, 25th March & 8pm is the right time & date.

Robbo or OMR - when draft order is done, please tell me my pick order...this will help me a lot.

In anticipating your kind help

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
