Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm very interested to see how Brendan McCartney goes at the Melbourne Football Club. I think he is a man of great character who is highly regarded in AFL coaching circles. Specifically in his role as a development coach. It must not be forgotten the brilliant work he did at Geelong from 2000 until 2010. He was instrumental in helping to change Geelong's culture.

The only issue is his unfortunate tenure at the Western Bulldogs as the senior coach.

The questions need to be asked? Will he get along alright with Daniel Cross? Has he learnt from his player relationships at the Western Bulldogs? Were the Bulldogs players "sooks" and too soft or was he too harsh on the players?

Personally I think Brendan McCartney has learned ALOT from his time at the Western Bulldogs and he will be brilliant in his development coaching role at the Demons!

In the end, time will tell how well this relationship will work between Brendan McCartney and the Melbourne players. Either way, I have faith in the football department that we made the right decision in recruiting him to not only develop our players but also to be a mentor for Simon Goodwin when he takes over from Paul Roos as senior coach of the Demons in 2017.

Wouldn't have thought he would have a lot to do with Cross, more with the young kids.

Exactly plus Roos is hardly likely to inject somebody into his coaching structure if it is not likely to have a positive impact! I am backing Roos on both McCartney and Goodwin, both of who came to us from Clubs where there were controversial problems at the time of there departure.

irrespective of that - the major difference between the Doggies and us is the dogs at the time of letting Cross go did have some quality mature "runners" in Boyd, Griffin, Picken with up and comers in Libratore and Wallis - so whilst I don't agree with their decision ( fortunate for us !) I can understand their rationale for making the decision. We on the other hand were screaming out for mature heads with good work ethic.

I would think therefore that both McCartney and Cross have moved on from that time.

So how has Brendan McCartney been going so far in his first week at the Demons? Hopefully once he has settled in a bit more Matt Burgan will interview him and put the video up on the Melbourne Football Club website?

Time will tell what kind of impact Brendan McCartney will have at the Demons.

Matt Burgan interview: So Brendan how are you finding it?

Brendan: Yeah, it's been great. Guys are rooly friendly, made me feel welcome.

End of interview.

Key takeaway: Nothing!

The guy is renowned as a devlopmental genius. All he'd have to do is drop a couple of names to make said interview highly interesting.

I have no problem with yhe subject Carlos but rather Burgan's lack of depth in questioning! The video interviews are incredibly superficial.

If you don't like Burgo's questioning techniques, perhaps you could get down to training and ask the hard hitting questions you desire, then either report back here, or even start your own blog, which I will happily read initially.

Burgo's videos may not be award winning material, but for interstate supporters, I'll take them over nothing. It's about the only way we can feel part of the MFC family.

The other "takeaway" from your statement is that to enjoy Burgo one must move interstate?

Fair enough, maybe I misread your post.

I like Burgan mainly because of what he was writing on the AFL site prior to Melbourne, he was a hell of a lot better than most of the writers that have proceeded him. I'd say that is his strong-suit as he does a lot of good work via the articles as far as I can tell.

What do you think Roosy will say if Macca calls Hogan then next Hawkins and Petracca the next Ablett?

We will get the standard interview at some stage I'd think. Probably not in any hurry though. And Macca will hopefully say all the nice back handed compliments about how unexpectedly good our coaches, players and facilities are and how he's happy to be here.

A video going through some of his development techniques and drills with players would be great. Enough to be interesting without giving away anything top secret.

In fact if we could cut up some training highlights once a week leading up to the NAB challenge I think that would be really welcomed by fans.

I think McCartney is surrounded by off field people of the same mind. we have already started the processes & McCartney won't be on his own against a wall of resistance I presume he met with at doggieland. 5 years back he may have met that same wall here?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
