The List

Defenders:
KPP: Lynden Dunn, Tom Mcdonald, Sam Frost, Oscar McDonald
Mid: Colin Garland, Jack Grimes. Heritier Lumumba
Small: Dean Terlich, Neville Jetta

Still a bit short on numbers in our Backline, although now we have a little bit more coverage with Frost able to support the talls with injury, can see this issue being addressed in the rookie draft again with a key defender to be brought in.

Midfielders:
Rohan Bail, Daniel Cross, Nathan Jones, Jordie Mckenzie, Aidan Riley, Christian Salem, Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Trengove, Dom Tyson, Bernie Vince, Jack Viney, James Harmes, Billy Stretch, Ben Newton, Christian Petracca, Angus Brayshaw, Alex Neal-Bullen

Depth of the midfield positions have been added, our midfield group has extended and strenghtened with 4 developing midfielders and one ready to go mid.

Forwards:
KPP: Chris Dawes, Jack Fitzpatrick (ruck), Jesse Hogan, Cameron Pederson (ruck), Max King (ruck)
Mid:
Small: Jayden Hunt, Jay Kennedy-Harris, Dean Kent, Jeff Garlett

Forward stocks have not been addressed in the draft, big year for Fitzy in terms of probably the fellas last chance to show something, can see us bringing in another forward in the rookie draft.

Rucks: Max Gawn, Mark Jamar, Jake Spencer

Jamar will be 1st team to start with, but here is hoping Gawn can come and steal it off him. The ruck stocks are acceptable definitely with how most AFL teams set up, 3 and one rookie.

Utilities: Jeremy Howe, Matt Jones, Viv Michie, Jack Watts

Interesting where these players will spend their time, Watts probably more as a high half forward mid and Howe could well be moved back into the forward line

40/40 spots on the primary list
2/4 Rookies

Trade period we were able to address a few key issues.

-kp defenser depth

-midfield speed/depth

-small forward

Puts us in a good position for the draft and to share a delisted free agent.

Would have been massive winners had we kept pick 23

Where did we address our midfield depth in the trade period? The only midfielder we picked up was Stretch, and it would be unfair and unrealistic to expect anything from him until 2017.

Look our midfield depth is not yet where it needs to be, but both lumumba and Garlett will spend time in the middle and by holding onto 2/3 including stretch we will have added to our midfield depth.

Midfield depth is not our problem. We have a number of players that could play midfield. The fact is that a number are not good enough. Midfield class is what we lacked (in spades).

It looks like we are going to have to continue maturing those that have promise in the midfield to complement the few quality players we have and then over time supplement that potentially with the talent we draft from picks 2&3.

Looks like we have addressed the key areas that needed to be looked at over the list change period.

-More midfield depth

-More Key Defenders

Now with the rookie draft we probably will be looking for one more key defender and possibly another developing key forward.

List is looking alot more well rounded than last year and heaps more so than 2013

It would very hard to give you an argument to the contrary MM

Leg speed....

true, we also addressed that whichwas a key issue!

It is surprising to see how quick a list can turn around considering we have been at the bottom for so long, whilst it has not produced results it looks much more promising than anything i have seen for 8 years!

Disagree with the suggestion of M-M that only Newton of the five midfielders added are ready to play in 2015. IMO both Petracca and Brayshaw will play a majority of matches next year, possibly from as early as Round 1!

It is not that I dont think they are ready to go, I just think we are passed the stage where our early picks will need to play round one. Let them play VFL get confidence and if their form permits allow them to play AFL.I know they have the capabilities for sure and hope that they play 10-13 games each and this will be a great starting point for them.

EDIT: Ready to go is also used more in terms of the age profile of these players. Newton is older and had AFL experience at a better club as opposed to these 18/19 year old developing players

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
