Give me a side that wins games with attacking footy any day over a celebrity president. That is insignificant on our long list of needs.

Celebrity or not, I was trying to indicate that the likes of Koch and McGuire can gather the hoards with simple calls to arms that resonate.

Do we have that? No.

Do we need that? Yes.

No mate, you're missing the point. It's simplistic to think that a celebrity president will do the job better than a highly successful person in business with great management skills, vision and the ability to generate a structure path forward.

"Gathering the hordes with simple calls to arms" is a ridiculous prerequisite. Should we get Mel Gibson decked out in Braveheart gear then? Lol!

No mate, you're missing the point. It's simplistic to think that a celebrity president will do the job better than a highly successful person in business with great management skills, vision and the ability to generate a structure path forward.

Winning games does this 'McQueen'...you can see how quickly the masses didn't show up to Collingwood games at the end of the season and you can guarantee Adelaide oval would start to empty if Port weren't winning.

All the match day experiences and high profile presidents in the world won't draw an extra person if you aren't winning games of footy.

Kochie and co have clearly come up with a marketing strategy for Port. Note the home game features: signage, giveaways, the 'Never tear us apart song'. They are selling: come to the footy it is fun!

To help sell it further their coach is selling the message brilliantly. Hinkley talks about:

-to beat us you have to outrun us!

-we play Port Adelaide 'brave'

-If you want to watch footy that’s ­exciting and fun, come and watch Port Adelaide.

Never once do they talk about their 'brand' or what 'they stand for' but the above is cleverly designed to establish exactly their brand and exactly what they stand for. Simple message. No slogans, per se. No Jargon, No consultant speak!

Kochie has the business nouse to know what what was need and set about making it happen. The whole club is singing from the same song book...that is what is making it all work.

Forget the 'walk-the-talk' stuff; they are an 'actions-speak-louder-than-words' club. Hats off to them!

This Club is on life support until it starts winning games. We have a President with impeccable football experience. That should be the focus until they start winning. Once we have a list that is competitive and people want to be associated with us as Members, Sponsors etc then worry about a President who is a spruiker but right now IMHO we have the right man for the job.

    Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill.     Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
