If that is the case, they were as silly as we were. It's no coincidence that they're booty of ill gotten gains got them nothing in the end either.

So the the two biggest tankers have ended up with nine tenths of bugger all CBF

Choke you owe me 2 minutes of my lunch break back...

I was expecting an answer and all I got was that.

Sorry mate.

I'll do better next time.

How bout a JW thread, or maybe Toumpas v Wines? When in doubt, always go with a classic.

Also had Hawk and Magpie mates not wanting to win any more games in '04 & '05 (to get the PP's)

I feel much better now knowing that it is all my fault, I was thinking maybe it had something to do with lack of talent, poor development and drafting etc, but at least now I know the REAL reason.

Yes so can you bugger off I have been looking for the reason for the last fifty years pity you did not realise it earlier.

Indeed. Carlton did it slightly better than us but in the end, it took them no further than second week of the finals.

Besides the piece of asshattery mentioned earlier, you just need to look at the 'Do you care if we win the wooden spoon?' thread to see some baffling ways of thinking.

But were they actively cheering for the opposition? There's a difference between being pragmatic and accepting what supposedly must be and taking active joy in your side losing which those blokes seemed to be doing after that Richmond loss.

I will also challenge the assertion that Hawthorn tanked in 2004. I have said it multiple times on this forum but keep in mind that Peter Schwab predicted his team would win the flag that year. If they were tanking, Schwab didn't get the memo. They started the year full of hope and ended it playing the kids.

North supporters handling out "you know why your clubs slop?" football analysis now as well are they? Excellent.

Always nice to hear from the Kings of Mid-Table Mediocrity. Lets hope they don't get pants week one of the finals and supporters clap them off, eh?

Yes but as usual they had skill when they did it, notice that word Macca.

Not like the ham fisted amateur effort put by us and the Blues

I could handle about five years of "Mid-Table Mediocrity" stinga.

I could also handle beating that mediocre mob once every decade

To be fair so could OD.

Nothing I'd like ...nay, love more, than to sing the song 10.20pm saturday night. Doubt that will happen though.

It all amounts to the same thing

They tanked and their fans went along with it

Tell your brother that we live and breath the nonsense he is casually mind humping.

We know what is wrong with our club and our team and it is not how angry we don't get when the team plays poorly...

Poor list. Terrible drafting over consecutive years from 1999-2004 and 2007-2011. Lack of development of any half decent talent we did get.

Tell him he can keep his views if he goes and reads how we drafted in the last 15 years.

Maybe then, he would have a greater appreciation for his brother and the rest of us resilient Demons.

And we hold people accountable - we just do in the quiet, in the backrooms - we don't feel the need to gnash our teeth to 'impress' those around with 'look how angry I am.'

We are quite good at eating our own - quietly.

I have made these arguments many times.

He still reckons it's because we're weak.

He's not alone in his views either, I've heard it from others as well.

I think you are being too dismissive on the first point and you didn't acknowledge the second.

Again I would say that there is quite a difference in the attitude taken by the Hawks/Magpies and us and Carlton (if what you say is true).

I can remember the day Jordan McMahon kicked that goal to sink us and thinking to myself that I was disappointed that we lost but at least there is a silver lining at the end of all this. I also thought that all this 'development' would be worth it in the end. Little did I know that some people were acting as though we had won the flag all ready and were actively rejoicing in our failure.

I would hope that is the attitude most supporters would have.

I would stay on my good side if I were you. When the masses rise up, I will be the first to designate you as an enemy of the people.

lol, i suspect the privileged (real or perceived) elitist class of williamstown will be one of the first to be smitten, followed shortly by fitzroy and carltown

But it seems like we have run out of options, we have abused our entire list, our coaching staff, our executive, now it is time to turn on ourselves.

That bridge was also crossed a long time ago.

Personally I think it's time we turned on the mascot. Get the auskickers off and bring on the halftime mascot beatdown.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
