Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne biggest issue (from an outsider)

He cbf making an account, but he read our thread. Here's his response:

"They don't get it. If [censored] like this is acceptable to supporters then the board are happy to accept it. If it was a club like Collingwood or Carlton and the members are feral then the club can't accept it. Supporters of other clubs do not accept mediocrity like Melbourne supporters do. They abuse and are seen as being 'feral', but if you look at the feral supporters their clubs are the most successful for a reason."

Right, easy fix; everyone stop cheering and clapping for bad stuff and we are sure to play finals next year!

I'm a Melb supporter, I don't know what good stuff is any more. If I feel like bashing my d!ck beaters together the only chance I get is when we do something bad. Maybe the OP's brother can provide us a handy "Getting the clap on at the footy" how to guide.

time for an uppercut choke. he's your brother hence your responsibility

Unfortunately he's a lot bigger than me.

Stopped trying to take him on when he threw me through a wall about 10 years back.

I'm not sure what response he was expecting by telling a supporter group who has sat through 8 years of utter [censored] that their biggest problem is they don't get angry enough..lol

I've revisited the anger stage about 27 times.

Choke, your brother was just being a snide little turd.

There's something wrong with anyone who can doubt the commitment and passion of Melbourne supporters who turned up to a game, late into yet another miserable season, the 8th in a row.

For what it's worth, your brother is a North supporter.

27 finals played and 2 premierships in the last 20 years.

They've dropped below 10 wins just 3 times in those 20 years, and not once in the last five seasons.

The least time they had 6 or less wins in a season was the early 1970s.

Their recent teams have included some of the all-time greats of the game, and some of the most charismatic and high-profile individuals.

And their membership and attendances barely scrape ahead of ours, despite comparable base numbers of supporters.

In fact, for all the quirks of the fixture, it is fun to notice that Melbourne's match attendances this year have been higher than North's, whether counted as overall or as home games only.

Btw I don't think theres anything wrong with quietly acknowledging a quality goal from the opposition. Certainly not when its the result of a horrible skill error then turnover on our behalf.

Its somewhat childish to not even acknowledge a quality scoring shot, no matter who scored it.

That doesn't mean i get up n wave my scarf n shout, but i will be respectful and might even mention to a fellow spectator that it was a good goal.

Doesn't mean I support my team any less.

I think the fact that we still turn up is evidence enough of our strength and tolerance.

I personally have 3/4 of my extended family that have give up on melbourne and are supporting other teams.

not me or my father.

I will support this club to my dying breath (if they keep up the current crud it could be sooner than expected).

I get fiercely depressed after bad losses and I dont clap opposition goals against - but like you - I do marvel sometimes at quality play of opposition players. I am not talking about run of the mill play - but when a Riolo turns a player inside out - you do marvel and wish he was in our jumper.

I won't go so far as saying that our supporters are our biggest problem but some of the attitudes that some of us hold are pretty mind boggling.
For example, I still can't believe those nozzles who turned up after the Richmond game in 2009 and sang 'Tigerland'. I was disappointed we lost after the game but could see a silver lining in the loss. These Brooks Brothers wearing, chardonnay sipping, Brighton bell ends who were doing this in the MFC members do give me the s***s.

At the Kruezer Judd cup the Blues fans were singing "It's a Grand Old Flag" (before, during and after the game)

Most fans of other teams drop off in a way more disproportionate way when their team struggles than our team does. We have a remarkable amount of members, all things considered.

North fans are the worst for dropping off but they're so anonymous and irrelevant that no one even notices or cares. I've rarely met one of the creatures and the ones that I have met have fairly low intelligence levels.

If North drop to the bottom part of the ladder again that will be it for them. They should have gone to the Gold Coast when they had a chance - next time around they'll get swallowed up.

And no one will care.

I didn't see the clapping after the GWS goal, Choke, but there are supporters who do applaud all goals/passages of play etc. - I'm sure every club has them. However, the vast majority of Melbourne supporters around me during that game were fookin livid.

I think Melbourne supporters are the last people you could blame for the club's demise. I'm astounded that we even made 35,000 members to be honest - in fact, the loyalty and resilience of the Demons support is damn astonishing, considering the bollocks we've had to put up with for so long.

Brilliant. I'll pass this on :)

It was definitely there. My brother made a deliberate point of rewinding the game and pausing it just to show me.

I agree with you on the reliance thing. Shocked that MFCSS isn't a recognised mental health condition. So many sufferers out there.

Not shooting the messenger, but your brother is a damn fool and doesn't understand what creates a successful AFL side.

The supporters are the least influential link in the chain, beyond their ability to give financial support.

I'm sure it was - the egg-chasers back home do it, when the opposition scores. It's supposedly the sporting thing to do. If I see anyone do it at a Melbourne game, I'll chop their hands off!

If that is the case, they were as silly as we were. It's no coincidence that they're booty of ill gotten gains got them nothing in the end either.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
