AFL 360 - Focus on MFC

As a commentator in the media (DS) it is actually his job to comment. Having said that its not necessarily a given that a commentator might not actually say something worthy as opposed to purely a headline.

I actually thought the thrust of the Ox's sentiments was that both parties were in a bit of a rut with each other and both simply need a freshness ( gained from Watts moving on ) I agree 100% with that. I think THAT would work best, but he may well stay.

Anyone can comment. Up to us to filter.

My point though, that is Ox's opinion, it is not a fact, unfortunately some posters on here assume the Ox has just come down the mountain with that written in stone

We cant know that this ISNT an option currently in the minds of the club. Melbourne will wait til end other season and trade begins to evaluate the best path forwards.

I havent heard anyone categorically say Watts isnt tradable, but happy to be corrected

Ok I will say it categorically, I think if we trade Watts it will be stupid, as we have spent this season reprogramming him, this still doesn't mean it won't happen though...not my choice, but would have thought if Roos thought that little of him he would be at Casey by now

The King bit is only to justify his pay packet and fill in time on telly - any of us could come up with all the "analytical" stuff he makes a living out of.

All that matters at the minute is how the Dees play on Sunday.

I've seen very little reprogramming. Roos has simply trying to do what every coach has tried to do with Watts except Roos and has had the same level of success as far as I can tell.

Despite categorically stating Watts would play on a wing that was abandoned after about a month as he shifted forward. Then he started failing there so he was shifted back. Right now he's playing back and forward. Roos is breaking his own rules with Watts!

Unfortunately I think Roos is another in a long line of coaches who gets fooled by the training track performances and blinded by concerns about the PR battle and destroying poor Jacky's confidence instead of just treating him on the merits of his performance.

I don't think we should either 'Sat' (Unless an Alan Bond offer came up) and the focus on Watts really annoys the ...out of me. Ox really should know better and for the good of him (Watts) and the club as he professes to have at heart he should shut the ...up about Jack and let him get along with his career.

Pick on another number one like Scully who is doing the job of a very average footballer on the same whack as arguably the greatest player of all time is at GC.

Had a bit to do with having no forwards early in the season 'George'...he had him forward for part of the first game.

wasnt there something about getting players into roles and letting them develop ? Didnt get long did he...just saying

I seriously think Roos is just as bewildered as the rest of us. All he really says are things PC irt Watts.

The obvious thing is we will know EXACTLY Watts what come trade time. A few will

It is the mindset on here as to what a midfielder is, I want a midfielder who can go into the centre bounces, play on a wing, go forward , kick goals, defend at halfback....let me think James Kelly, Jimmy Bartel, Shaun Burgoyne, Nat Fyfe....this is what Roos meant

All those you mention arent the failed KPP types they have always been utility types. and are almost uniformly 188-190 types...and for good reason

The idea ( for mine ) of Watts as some sort of pseudo Pendlebury is some sort of fanciful folly. He is NOT a mid. He is a winger, left to be that he could do well. He gets caught up in traffic and knocked around by it. He needs room and given it is VERY good at using the ball. But for mine thats all,....now.

Jack Watts was only a KPP because Demonland annointed him as one...I hate the labels.....I know Jesse Hogan is a 'forward' but my hope is he becomes the Roughead type forward and can pop up in the centre square or the wing, and you will notice Lance Franklin all 160cm of him popping up all over the place now....it's the modern game

yep...if all parties agree, not a problem

Schwarter is a Demon. I reckon he wants to put the wind up Watts. See if he can lift and show something in the last few rounds.

I am dismissive because as far as I know most on here have never played or coached at AFL level, so have no idea what is required to perform at that level.

Second point is a lot of it is not original, usually gleaned from one of the many Footy Talking Heads we have these days

We also have posters who don't even watch the games pontificating

If you put forward a well thought argument I will read it, if the post contains nothing but the usual bashing, what is the point?

So you have played and/or coached AFL level then Saty?

Yes a lot of posts are rubbish, however everyone has a right to an opinion - this is a forum after all.

Former number 1 draft pick. Huge potential .Similar stats this year. Is he better than Scully? I say yes. No way we will get another deal like Scully.

I am amazed this thread has generated so much activity.

I recorded AFL360 thinking that King and Maclure were going to give us some real injsights but there was nothing there but confirmation of what many have said on this site: essentially that Roos has spent the year teaching the team how to defend and to commit but that has taken us far as it was going to and the team now has to learn to attack.

Trade Watts? You mean no-one's ever said that before?

Trade Toumpas, Grimes, Trenners?

As others have said, they don't know about Toump's surgery? Really, if that is as shallow as their research was just let it go.

Trenners has been hampered this year and may well break out next.

King's get in five picks inside 20 was an academic exercise, nothing more.

The segment genuinely disappointed me, but maybe I should be cheered by the insight we get on this site.

If that is quality re programming we are in real trouble at the moment

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
