The future looks bright...

Fact is that we had our chance and we failed. It hurts.

After Daniher we had a shot at rebuilding. We had the draft picks but screwed up recruiting, development, admin and footy.

We had a window between 2014 and 2016 before GCS and GWS and a number of other rebuilding clubs took over. Sadly we blew it.

With some good decisions made from here on in we may be an outside chance to play some finals in the next 5 or 6 years, that is unless we have a combination of amazing luck and super management.

The future looks bright when the club has 10 to 12 AFL ready players playing for Casey. At this stage we are 15 to 18 players short! If my math serves me right, we are at least 5 yrs away. This depends on good recruitment and development. Something the club has yet to master.

Having said this, I have confidence in Viney, Taylor and Roos. But Roos is a short term prospect. I hope he leaves a legacy. Even better, Roos heading an academy after he has finished coaching.

I'm happy Kent is seeing the positives in himself, Hogan JKH, Toumpass, and a few others. But he forgot to mention, Strauss, Blease, Tappscott, Spencer, Fitzy, , Brynes and others. Not to mention the others who are developing who are no guarantee to make it. Harmes, King etc.

We are way off, but heading in the right direction. It's sad the club is hoping to win 8 games a year in the future, or scrape in the 8, but top 4 or real contenders is 5 years off at least, and I have heard of 5 year plans since the early 80's. 35 yrs later, we are a bottom 4 team.

What a depressing group of grumpy old men this place has become. It's like walking in to a bar with your new wife and having a group of sad old men tell you all the sob stories of how horrible their divorces were.

Everybody is so comfortable being miserable that they try to shut down anything that might give them hope. It's become 'cool' to be the most depressed person here.

I thought it was good to hear Kent saying those things because he's a WA boy and good mates with another WA boy, who happens to be the most important player on our list. That he wants to put it on record is a good thing.

It was great to hear Kent. Things are positive at the club. I get that. But we are coming so far back from the rest of the pack, in reality things have a long way to go. One year with a great coach, who is doing great things has got us 4 wins out of 16. That's the reality.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
