Luke Tapscott, the forgotten man.

If Roos record of a couple of games as emergency before getting the call up is anything to go by, Tappy will play this week.

He's in this week.

He's in this week.

well done...good observation

I seriously believe iits all about observation and evaluation.

in past years you'd call it ..t............. theoretical justifications

Which is why it's interesting Blease is an emergency this week. Reckon he'll get a call up in a couple of weeks too (form depending).

With the recent injuries It would suggest he is getting close to the last man standing.

Not sure it has much to do with ability.

Hes not forgotten anymore.

no...he's on notice

Not sure where I said anything about his ability..... His Casey form has been solid, he's nearly earned a call up, simple as that for me.

You didn't

I said the reason he is an emergency is we are running low on players to fill spots.

I can see little other reason for him getting a run.

Was at training today for about an hour and the most impressive thing I saw was Tapscott's ability to put a low, hard foot pass onto a leading player's chest. Virtually everyone else was waiting (sometimes without being rewarded) for someone to drop their defender and then put the ball high - to be marked overhead. This, of course, makes it much more likely that a defender will be able to spoil. it will be interesting to see if he can produce this skill on Saturday and also to see if he can find some space himself.

Funny you say that Jmcor. Youre not alone in seeing his class in delivery etc. Have seen and noted it myslef. I'm not alone .

yet....yet.. he cant deliver gameday

I'm sorry it's all about gameday.

really hoping he can nail himself a spot in the side.

very curious to see how they're going to use him. he's been back and forward at casey yes, as well as a bit of a time in the middle?

I reckon he will play back and Howe or Garland will go forward

I think he'll be the sub. Riley and Kent in the starting 22 ahead of him.

Tappy appears to be too slow, the senior games the opposition run off him far too easily, he does not use that muscle to get into good positions to take marks and has rarely had any influence on the game. I hope he can turn it around but i fear he is what he is. As for trade bait, i doubt anyone else will want him if we dont.

Its been a while since tappy played in the seniors, he's been training under roos for a little while now.

I think ill wait til after he plays to make my judgements. blank canvass for Luke.

My predictions - plays as the sub and plays in the midfield as a fresh hard bodied in and under player.

Luke being able to go hard in the middle of the ground for the last quarter when every body is running out of juice could be very handy.

If he can produce some accurate sharp passes to leads from the forwards, that would be ideal in the last quarter... or all game lol

Riley could also get the vest, but based on senior game time obviously tappy should end up with the vest.

If he can run the game out and get half a dozen good, hard tackles, he'll keep his spot in the team methinks.

He's got a physical presence, Roos will be wanting him to leave the opposition with some bruises Sunday morning.

Tappy now has his opportunity to continue an AFL career. A good game executing his job and he will be extended a week. A poor game and he is as good as gone. Fair bit of pressure on the young bloke I recon.

Point taken. Probably explains the productivity of our high half forward flankers this season :)

Perhaps someone could explain why is it so?

It's the role they play, particularly at stoppages.

Do or die for Luke I would suggest, cannot see the wisdom in handing him the vest.

Roos running the eye over our fringe lads ?

Best of luck son.

Yep. Defenders set up behind the ball when it's inside our 50. Half forwards push all the way into the defensive 50 at stoppages or to provide an option, then push all the way forward to kick goals.

Roos and two way running ( actually all coaches want two way running)
