AFL ROUND 14

Ryan Griffen injured and subbed out, and Giansiircua sure to be rubbed out

and we play them next week

Cooney's also injured at the moment too, will probably come back next week though.

EDIT: Cooney out for around 3 weeks I've been told by a Bulldogs supporter.

Gia's gone no doubt. have you seen it?

he's lucky the player he hit didn't seem too badly hurt, so might get only 2 weeks

But that incident is an obvious 2-3 weeks, as you say.

Another good opportunity for us to get a win tomorrow, perhaps jumping two spots on the ladder to 12th and putting us two games out of the 8, not that I think we'll make it.

I don't care how many uncontested possessions Cotchin can get. He cannot get a contested one and cannot get his own ball ever. Not a captain, but a good downhill skiier

Yet he'd arguably be our best player.

Not a good comment in my opinion. I am sorry, i'd give pick 1 for him if i had the chance.

Cotchin is a star, who has an elite ability to gut run

Essendon is currently making Melbourne's defence look like the greatest of all time. Up 42 points to 9 with 5 minutes left in the 1st.

Yet he'd arguably be our best player.

His form this year says otherwise, it's been shizenhousen.

It's currently 45-1 in Perth, Freo's way. 33 inside 50s to 3. Where's Lynden Dunn when you need him?

Preparing to tear Drew Petrie a new one.

Brisbanes first half against Freo just made our first half last week look like Premiership football

Geeezzz The maggots are giving the drug cheats an armchair ride. Will get them over the line

Tips buggered. Bloody Adelaide. Ah well, 9th spot will be heartbreaking for the drug cheats, don't want them anywhere close to finals.

If we win tomorrow we send Essendon into the 8. Awesome.

Would be good if they got into the 8 but were ruled out from playing finals again. It would compound their misery.

Not happy that Essendon win, but nice watching two teams we beat.

Brisbane take our 'record' for lowest amount of inside 50s in a match I believe. They had 5 in the first half!

That Razor Ray is a deadset halfwit. And that's a clear example of umpiring impacting the result. Crows very stiff to lose IMO.

The AFL headline after the Essendon-Adelaide game was:

"Goddard fires as Dons emerge from tough week with gripping win over _____."

They obviously saved that line from last game, when we spoiled it by winning. I wonder how many more times we'll see that headline this year.

Steffens Martin is having another good game for the Lions. Good on him. His best footy for us was as no 1 ruck.

Stef Martin is the biggest spud of all time.

I'm so glad he's gone.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
