Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 12

God point re Harry Alias - I wonder who wold be best suited to keep him accountable.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Cross. Roos has used him to go with outside runners like Polec and McCrae, he seems to like to stop the points of distribution and not necessarily at the engine room.

Many might be aware I am surrounded by Filth. The Wife, 3 very good mates, 90% of wifes family.., and its typically Mic huge lol are all demented. Going into tomorrows game something has changed. There's no forward pity. No derision. Some ( the decent ones ) have wished us well and look forward to a good game ( for a change lol ) Some seem genuinely concerned.

One constant ...no one is laughing at me any more. Thankyou Paul ,George, Jade et al Thankyou Players.

The wife doesnt want to watch the game . Rather do house work apparently. Im stuck at home doing renovations but at 3.00pm I will down tools, telly on, raise a beer and enjoy come what may.

Wish I was going but some peace must be kept with SWMBO ( sometimes...gotta pick ya moments huh )

Go Dees

My husband is already making excuses - ha! This person's out, that person is out......... He is genuinely worried. He has however chosen to dump me for game and going with a fellow Collingwood supporter (his son).

That's grounds for a divorce jane in that your husband goes for collywobbles.

The shame, the shame!!

Spot on Ox! Further Jane, you should kick your son out of the household!

I know, I know - often wonder what I was thinking!!

Oh - he's not my son. No blood relative of mine would follow the Pies. He's my stepson so I am not responsible for his poor life choices!

Fair point Jane. You can however, make his life miserable. In fact, as a Dees supporter, it is your responsibility to do this.

The poor lads life will begin to spiral down around 6.30 tomorrow night Bbo

Will be thinking of you, BB. Wise choice, no matter what the result is tomorrow.

Here's what should happen imo

Cross-Young (Don't want his kicks feeding the forward line)

Jones-Pendlebury

Dom will get tagged by Macaffer, hopefully he can shrug it

Riley is who we need. We need to hurt them and for four quarters. Its the only way to beat these flogs. They are so full of themselves they're likely not to even know who Riley is.

Jane I really think you should have thought about the holistic situation before you committed to this marriage. Yes he is your stepson and you are not responsible for his poor life choices but really you should have demanded a conversion to the MFC as part of the nuptial agreement. I am not a zealot just a realist Jane!

One other thing Jane does your hubby and stepson have their own teeth??

Their small players are the ones that will be the problem for us....

Elliot, Fasolo, Blair....

At least one of their smaller brigade always kills us.

Surprised Gawn survived the cut as I reckon he's the worst player in the squad- at the moment.

I don't subscribe to the theory of 'stretching their defence' because as soon as the tall blokes drop marks, the opposition invariably clear it out more often than not.

Having said that I'll leave it to Roos who's selections this year have been very good.

Yep, Gawn doesn't offer much up forward other than a massive unit - he isn't quick on the lead, not outstanding in the marking contest (see his last 2 games), not a great kick for goal, pretty poor contesting on the deck, and even in the ruck doesn't give us a huge amount around the ground. With Dawes back I would think a forward line of Dawes, Fraaley, Pedersen with Pedo chopping out for Jamar in the ruck would be adequate. We need runners and while Toumpas may not be that I would've kept either him or Riley as the sub.

Salem to be the sub and come on fresh late in quarter 3, replacing Gawn. Big Jamar can be nicely rested having shared the ruck and we run harder in the last. Go Dees.

I like your thinking.

Just touched down in Melbourne and I'm bloody pumped. Massive chance today, good test for our midfield, break even or better there and the game is ours for the taking.

Ha ha - they do. They both are not your typical Pie supporter. My husband has a Melbourne membership that I dutifully buy him each Christmas!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
