Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nathan Jones season

InVINCEable

I, like the first few posters thought it was top 5 in the club, which was a strange question. Glad it was clarified.

Top 10 in the league seems about right, not Top 5.

AFL coaches voting so far:-

LEADERBOARD

55 Gary Ablett (Gold Coast)

44 Josh Kennedy (Sydney Swans)

39 Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood)

38 Joel Selwood (Geelong)

35 Nathan Fyfe (Fremantle)

35 Robbie Gray (Port Adelaide)

32 Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)

32 Nathan Jones (Melbourne)

31 Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda)

30 Brent Harvey (North Melbourne)

That's pretty good company he's keeping. Level with Dangermouse is good given how highly people like to rate him.

AFL podcast today, four panel members including Drew Petrie

They were naming their top 10 players

Not sure how many had Jones in the top 10 as i wasnt paying close attention, but I heard at least 2 of them name him in their top 10, with one of them having him as high as 6th best i think it was

The Jones Boy is finally being recognized as the superstar he is. Absolutely elite A grade champion.

There was a bit of play late in the last quarter of the richmond game, where he dived for the ball against deledio, a 2nd richmond player jumped in to tackle. He collected the ball, basically lifted these 2 blokes off the ground as he got to his feet and got boot to ball to a teammate out from the congestion. The bloke is a star.

I was laughing out loud at that piece of play. The sort of thing only the VERY good players are capable of doing.

Another bit summed it up for me, watching the replay - and actually Eddie Mcguire echoed my sentiment.

Late in the last quarter in the back line ball in dispute, close game, Nathan comes steaming in dives in, wins the ball and handballs it out.

Mcguire just explodes with "Jones again" - exactly what I thought, just the fact that he was there and in that position to win the ball - on top of everything else he'd already done.

I was hounded down last year when I dare suggest that he wasn't Elite

He was more like B grade.

This year with the better team support he is A grade.

He still has areas to work on and I'm sure he will get there by years end.

But..... And a big But......... He will be overtaken by Tyson who has the silky skills that most Elite Players have that Jonesy doesn't.

One might say that without the support last year, he was equally as good as this year; it must make life a little more comfortable when he doesn't have to carry the whole team by himself.

He's not great, but he's not the worst commentator, McGuire. As long as he's not commentating on a Collingwood match.

Great pick up that from Jonesy. Pretty much sealed the game for us that play.

He's the sort of player that welcomes a challenge and never drops his head, and with greater responsibility, he thrives. Really impressed with his year so far. I felt last year was his first great season. He's backing it up again.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
