I don't think we were lucky today. We deserved to win.

I would suggest some of our players didn't have a great day but here's the thing.... In the past we had a whole lot of players who were poor...actually liabilities. Today Salem was quiet as was bail but neither were poor or a negative to the team just little impact.

I don't think anyone here is saying finals ... Just enjoying the win..

That's my say.

8 more scoring shots, 9 more inside50s.. we had 4 goals go bouncing through.. we got lucky

On the subject... Have you not noticed the defensive structures. It is very apparent.

How many shots did they miss from an angle of 45 degrees or better. One of Roos biggest win is teaching the boys not to give up the corridor - pushed wide all day.

They got two goals from lucky frees. Got gifted forward possession ending up in goals by poor umpiring. We hit the post twice.

Not lucky - we deserved to win. Lucky by 3 goals ? Please ....

some peeps are getting a bit carried away

we were very, very lucky to win today

I think this is almost a reversal of the St Kilda loss. In that one we were in control for large portions of the game and probably should have won but we kept kicking points instead of goals and then they slipped past us. This time, a case could be made that Richmond should have smashed us given their 20 missed shots. However, we kept at them, kept it competitive and made the most of our chances to knock them over.

Classic Eeyore. A.A. Milne would have been proud.

Would be fair to say that out of 6 or 7 games this year that could have gone either way, we've won about half and lost about half. It's the fact that we're in so many games at the end that gives hope.

You can see the improvement one game to the next. And we're still a long way from our ceiling.

See? It's really not so bad. Turn that frown upside down! :)

Let me get this clear, last week you posted that we didn't deserve to win even though we had more inside 50s and the Bulldogs bounced through lucky goals and got gifted goals.

And this week you think we didn't deserve to win because Ricmond had more inside 50s and the football happened to bounce in our favour a couple of times.

I didn't say we haven't improved (we obviously have) nor did I mention any other matches. I am discussing today's match. Keep it real.

That's correct.. we only juuuuuust lost last week for not being quite good enough.. today we were luckier than the dogs were last week

I never cease to be amazed how the taste of single malt changes with your mood.

Tonight it has seldom tasted so good.

I know we only beat another bottom half side but after the last six years and particularly the last two it feels like the GF.

A couple of weeks ago I apologised to Pedersen, I add a further one tonight, you a lot better than I thought.

Also Mr Jamar I said you were over the hill and although the hill will get steeper in the next few weeks you have played beyond what I thought was possible the last three weeks.

Hell we won!

Beat the tigers on their big day.

Might just have another single malt.

Just been partaking in a wee dram or two of Monkey Shoulder a blended Malt.

I may have to try a bit more of it before I comment

In games that are in the balance until very late, the difference between winning & losing is often a bit of luck. Sometimes the breaks go your way and you get a "lucky" win; sometimes they go against you and you get an "unlucky" loss.

It just that it doesn't really mean anything to say we were lucky to win this one. Yeah, we were, but so what? We got the breaks this week; the breaks went against us last week.

It's far more meaningful that in all but one or two games so far we've been close enough late in the game that if the breaks go our way we get to pinch a "lucky" win.

OD, may you have many more experiences of that amazement before the season's out!

It's odd that so many teams have kicked inaccurately against us this year.

Either we're lucky or the defensive pressure that this team now places on its opponents corrodes the confidence needed in front of goal.

Your opinion, lad. But I don't see a win like this as wallpapering over cracks. This is a team that is beginning to play like a - dare I say it - team. We are not world beaters, and won't be with this current squad, but they have a go. They play for each other and the coach. That is the alpha and omega of football. Without it any team is worthless, sorta like last year, eh?

And it's gotta be said:

PICKET FENCE!? Just my opinion!

and your opinion should be respected.

terlich=makes less mistakes than last year, and TAKES the game on.

toumpas=shows signs, but PR dont play blokes who show signs, toump has to learn OUR game plan, time will do this.

m jones=thought they may ask him to go over to martin when he was cutting us up,thats a feather in his cap from coach.

mcdonald=i sit in the mystery pocket where tommy does his work.made another 6/7 blunders and made 6/7 ripping saves,

after another blunder,he walked back to his opponent and told him "im not doing that again" i was stoked at his courage and mindset never to give up and try to be team orientated under all circumstances.

i made an effort to see his face after the siren,he looked like a 16 yo after going into his first topless bar.{pure joy} and good on him.

but as you said PF,opinions.

Not particularly agreeing or disagreeing but I will suggest that we made our luck today. We were today, the better team.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
