Vickery and Reiwoldt are the keys here. Frawls usually does a number on R, with him out, or if he had of played up fwd I think that will be the test for us. We have improved defensively all year but those 2 are key to keep quiet.

Totally agree, I would go so far as to say Chip was the first and best at putting JR back in his box, if I was JR I'd be begging for a chance to play FF since Chip isn't there, this is where I always saw the best value in Chip was on how he played guns like Franklin and Reiwoldt. Not as worried about Dusty, I feel our new look midfield would like to give him a touch up after he has eaten us up in past years. We put a big game into Dangerfield (who was still brilliant) I don't think Dusty will go as well with the same pressure. (or so I fervently hope.

If we can generate as many inside 50s as we did last week, I think we'll be well on our way to victory. Richmond's backline is weak, weaker even than the Dogs', and with Gawn and hopefully Dunn up there today we might do a better job of helping Dawes and getting some more shots.

At the other end, with Grimes and hopefully Pedersen down there, and Garland being better for his run last week, I'm confident we'll put in a better defensive effort than last week. McDonald has a big job on Riewoldt but if the six of them work together like they did in Adelaide, we can team up on their forwards and cut off their scores.

We are a good thing this week, absolute morals.

We'll win the ruck and chew up the contested ball, there is no one to stop us.

Definitely match up better against the Tigers - than we do against the Bullies, and Adelaide.

Providing we have Jamar in, teams with soft midfields will find it hard to beat us.

Richmond have no contested ball winners, certainly none that will compete with Jones and Viney.

Jamar will get first use, we'll get first crack at it and Cotchin won't get his usual numbers.

There is going to be one massive difference between having Gawn as compared to Frawley in the forward line, Gawn can take a mark over his head.

I lost count of how many times Frawley got to a contest, pushed his man out only to let the ball drop to the ground witout really making an effort to go for it.

The weakness with having both Frawley and Dawes in the same forward line is they are both better on the lead than in contested marking situations. This is why Clark and Dawes would have been such a great combination.

Yes. But the value was what Gawn brings to the ruck in the forward line and when Jamar is tanked. His tap to the empty space in front of Vince was arrogant and excellent.

Loved it.

Edit: I may have used some dramatic licence but that tap was Gawn and Vince knowing the Tigers had no idea what they were doing.

Yes, clunked a couple of good ones early and always looked threatening. A really good first game back.

It wasn't. We were slower up forward with Gawn instead of Frawley. Better in the ruck but with Hampson off we were always going to be dominant in the ruck in the second half.

Gawn took a couple of good grabs early forward but then contributed little forward. His benefit was mainly a stronger second ruck who adds something around the ground.

Fortunately Pedersen really stepped up as a forward. Dawes effort was great but marking was poor.

As a whole the 3 of them (Dawes, Pedersen, Gawn) worked pretty well. Roos will have a really difficult call with what to do with Frawley. I'd probably favour putting him at full back and freeing up Garland/Dunn to get more rebound in their game.
