Haven't seen too many of those midfielders who play for the Dees...

His one step kicks are fine until he misses a target, and he missed a couple up in Alice...

8 clangers amongst his 30 touches. A bit more care with his disposals and his hurt factor will skyrocket. Already such a good player for a 23 game player.

Id love Jones to win 3 Blueys in a row as I feel after the last few years carrying the Club he deserves to have his name in the timber 3 times in a row. Saying that, I reckon Tyson could pinch it

Tyson has a bit of work to do yet to get past Jonesy, who is pushing for an All Australian guernsey on current form.

I'm not sure who in the house likes him more, Miss Deeko or myself.

This worries me as I like him a lot!

My vote would be for Miss Deeko.

Once his short game improves a bit he will be a complete player, that will come and it will improve those around him.

Wow, we've got a player in Dom Tyson.

Love to hear JayZ reveal his sources....

Love the gems :

"Oh, there’s no question they have made a mistake. Gee, it’s going to be nasty,” one recruiter told the Herald Sun this week.

Another said: “The talent industry was quite gobsmacked at the decision, to be honest.”

and the most laughable

One talent spotter said overlooking Kelly, 19, could prove worse than the well-documented Watts-Naitanui decision.

what the [censored] is the "talent industry" hahahahaha.

It is going to be nasty, for GWS. They missed out on Dom, this kid will be a star of the game

I guess the best thing to come out of all this is that we now know we don't have to finish last to build a side, we now have people in place to pick good talent all the way through the draft and others in place to develop them.

Dom would have been a good player even in our old system but now he will be an A grade player because of our excellent coaching panel.

it's downright scary that this kid has only played 24 games, add another 76 to that and I reckon we are looking at potentially the best mid in the comp, and Viney might well not be far behind him

Early on he made some errors but he settled into the game big time and became BOG for us. He has a class about him that haven't seen in a Melbourne player for a long time.

He's continuing to make that recruiter who criticised our trade look like a muppet!

He has great skin.

He used to have better hair, disappointing really.

I love goal kicking midfielders that contest the ball, lay a tackle 55 metres out, rip the ball from the victims hands, stand up and kick a 55 metre goal off a step and a half.

Snap, wanted to post that as well, was it a tackle or a mugging? Do you reckon he and Viney have some sort of comp going, their hard ball gets are brilliant. Honourable mention to Salem for the bump on Ebert, (who I reckon will be roasted by Hinkley for diving).

This will be the first year in for-ever where 2-5 in our best and fairest is a mystery. Jones to win but jeez Tyson is going to go close.

Edited by Ingeniokinetikey

Yeah that Salem play was brilliant, this is a kid that plays like a man.

It's amazing how much joy we can get from drafting and trading, I did not know it can be a good thing.

Best Thread. Loved Roosy in the Media Conference getting stuck in to the unnamed recruiter!

Wouldn't mind betting that un- named recruiter is one Barry Prendergast

Instead of people harping on about Kelly Vs Salem/Tyson, just be happy we've done well out of the trade.

I think it all bemuses Paul Roos because he was going to take Salem at number 2 anyway.

Having the hardest time deciding whether my first born son will be named Dom or Tyson

I reckon Alexis

I think it all bemuses Paul Roos because he was going to take Salem at number 2 anyway.

You know this how ?

Roos confirmed we would not have taken Kelly but I haven't seen any reporting that we would have taken Salem at number 2 ?

Well first of all, you need to explain why it won't be Paul?

I was told we did the deal knowing the player we wanted at 2 was a good chance to be there at 9 and we'd essentially get Tyson for free, at the time I believed it was Nathan Freeman, but I am absolutely delighted with what Salem has bought to the side,

My girlfriends uncle kind of works loosely with the club in talent identification, he calls mfc, if he thinks a player is worth having a look at and he said he rated Salem and Kelly neck in neck as the two best mids in the draft but conceded he had only seen the vic boys live, didn't get to see Aish or Scharenberg too much

Sack the unnamed recruiter

Although I reckon the 'un-named recruiter' is just made up.

Yeah, you can see Edmund using this now to rub his hands of all responsibility. I think he made it up too, but even if he didn't, he should take some responsibility. It would an argument he mounted, 'backed' by his 'un-named recruiter'. He's never going to take responsibility and admit that he was wrong.

Dom Tyson will go down as one of the best players to wear a Melbourne jumper in the past 20 years. He makes other players better, which is a remarkable achievement for a kid who has played 20-something games.

In the coming years, I look forward to Dom developing a tank that can see him clock up the kms that is standard for the AFL's best. When that happens, he should be in the Top 2 or 3 of the competition.

The fact that the current Football Department have the runs on the board in terms of developing players with great potential and turning them in to stars of the competition gives me great confidence that Tyson will reach the levels I am expecting him to reach. Even if Roos leaves at the end of next season (I doubt he will), that'll still add another 35-odd games to Dom's resume, getting him up near that 60-70 game mark that industry believes is the experience level that players will start to consistently perform at high levels.

Salem, Viney, Toumpas and even Tregove should become very good friends of Dom's - he has the ability to make them very, very good players.

Posted the above (in a different thread) after our Round 6 loss to Sydney.

I had trouble watching the game on Saturday, mainly because for a guy like me - mid 30's, married with children, unblemished record - I found it quite disturbing that my man crush was developing in to something more serious. The best thing I could come up with was a quite prayer that Dom will find a nice girl soon, and in the next couple of years she gives birth to a boy, so that I can do my best to arrange a marriage with my daughter. Sound strange? It was a lot less creepy than the other thoughts I had...

Watching Roos' press conference after the Port game, I think he is finding it very difficult to keep a lid on this kid.

It has been a long time since a MFC player has taken me to a happy place during a game. Jurrah flirted at times and The Wiz did it frequently, but they were more from a mercurial highlight. For pure class, I'm thinking maybe not since Flower?
