Fell off my chair tonight when Damo Barrett admitted, ON AIR, on FC that he might have been wrong about his criticism of the Kelly/Salem/Tyson deal. Respect due where respect is due.

Might?

Almost fell off my chair too

I guess hes not all that bad if he can admit when hes wrong, but hes silly for making an such an early uninformed call right when the trade happened and admitting on air to Terry Wallace that he had never seen Tyson play

That's it. He's a dingbat.

The closest player-type that I could compare Dom to is Pendelbury.

Just watch how good Dom's hands are in close. He handballs it to where the players need to be, which puts them in a world of space.

I said it last week, players like Toumpas, Salem, Viney and Trengove should become very good friends of Dom's - he will make them famous.

I think the bloke your looking for is Simon Black, you just don't notice them racking up the possies - dishing it out with absolutely no fuss at all. Vossy, Aker, Lappin and Power all benefitted majorly from Blacky doing what he does best. Dom has a similar build and skill set - can't wait to see what he could do with a couple of full preseason's injury free

good comparison. Also a left footer, which is a big plus I reckon as it gives him a bit more time.

I'm happy with my Pendlebury comparison, thanks anyway.

But, if he turns out anywhere near as good as Pendlebury or Black, then that's a big win.

I'm confident that he has what it takes to achieve this.

Footy Classified also compared stats for Tyson's first 20 games with the first 20 for others including Judd, Ablett, Deledio and a couple of other stars of the game. He appears to have had an average of more disposals and tackles (and something else...was it goals?) per game than all of them. Admittedly, possession numbers today are much greater per team than just a few years ago, so if those stars were starting out today I'm sure their figures would be higher too. But let's not let the facts get too much in the way of a good story.

Barrett is still a muppet of epic flogness.

Even when he admits he was wrong he is still a crud, gutter journo chasing ambulances with a ego the size of hutchies gut.

So, do you like Barrett or not? Stop sitting on the fence!

Might have been wrong!

Maybe for outside mids, Tyson gets most of his possessions inside.

And i doubt mids get many more disposals on average. Its the back half whose numbers would have increased given they're the ones doing much of the chipping around (with some midfield help)

Tried to cover his backside by saying it's a debate that we'll be having for the next 10 years, but only succeeded in making himself look like an idiot as he was the one who rushed to judgement without even seeing 2 of the 3 protagonists play.

I'm not a Barrett hater like many on this site, but he has every reason to be red-faced over this one.

That's disappointing.

I am not a Barrett hater either. I am fairly ambivalent about him. I do think he is a terrible waste of oxygen though. If I want to listen to the opinion of idiots I could go to a Collingwood Carlton match.

I am far less forgiving than others on here, would personally rather [censored] in my hands and clap than listen to that parasite dribble his bias [censored]

Barrett actually said that he "quieried" it - "the Tyson -Salem combination for the loss of the Kelly pick."

He didn't say he had criticized it or make any apology. In fact in saying that it is a debate that will go on for 10 or even 15 years,

he is saying he is not at this stage backing down.

Actually, skill set aside, the way Dom Tyson moves and his authority around the ground reminds me of Luke Hodge.

Damian Barrett is a pathetic loser

Simply a statement of fact. We all know it to be true, and he reinforces it on a daily basis.

Tyson + Salem = massive win.

Tyson is a star. 10+ clearances, 2 goals. Gun.

Dom Tyson is Dom Tyson. He is not Pendlebury, or anyone else for that matter. And yes, he is very good.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
