Roos says Watts the problem?

A new title on MFC site.

I cant read what is being said can anyone explain?

Essentially saying the constant attention he gets is surprising and doesn't reflect the club's attention. Also spoke about how they are trying to get him to play multiple roles and it can be confusing, that he played well the first few weeks and has only just dropped off in the last couple:

"I get a little bit surprised that everything goes back to Jack Watts. We've got a lot more problems at this club than Wattsy's form," Roos said.

Roos doesnt wanna tip Watts over the edge with public criticism, and fair enough

He will still be dropped though

Can't see it, if he was then Roos would be lampooned for mixed messaging.

I'm like everyone else (frustrated at his perceived lack of effort), but as always I'll defer to Roosy on this and hope he can work his magic... (sceptical).

Not so sure about that hh.

I reckon he will play against the Crows.

Mores the pity because we have been one short for most of the last two weeks

Disagree he'll be dropped. Seems less likely now.

That is hardly a "spray".

Here's a team of young men who have played 50+ games of unaccountable football with ZERO guidance.

Watts may as well have played 20 games. It's like this team is being taught defensive fundamentals.

The likes of Howe, Watts, they may as well be starting their careers over again. They haven't really been held to account for how they play football. This was probably to be expected.

I think Magic is the word.

nope, he's staying loyal for now. I'm surprised but on reflection, I think I can see what he's doing.

looks like he's waiting for someone to bang down watts door, before removing him.

yes, but surprised they are continuing their learning in the 1sts.

I'll watch to see how the workrate of the other players holds up.

lol

It's quite clear now that he won't be dropped. Discussion can now turn to what he needs to do against the Crows to restore some faith.

Knock himself out on the point of Dangerfields shoulder as he puts his head over a loose ball. As reward he gets 5 stitches across the forehead and he's no longer referred to as Jogger... (Harry Potter instead maybe)

didnt realise you were apart of the selection team at the MFC to make such a comment

Earn his spot by being a contributor and look like he cares.

What's wrong with this Roos bloke? Doesn't he read Demonland?

His confidence is shot, dropping him won't probably achieve much.

I have no idea how to solve his issues though. He is mentally and physically weak.

Playing him must damage team confidence though.

If he cannot hold regulation chest marks....

It's nice to see Roos not giving Watts the Neeld treatment, it failed no point trying it again.

But I do hope he's dropped. The one treatment Watts has never had is an extended spell at Casey designed for his benefit.

Playing him in the AFL is almost more for Melbourne's benefit hoping he will come good and save face. When a highly skilled guy keeps dropping easy marks under no pressure it's time to say he's probably due a run in the reserves.

Roos is obviously trying to get the most out of Watts by using the carrot rather than stick. I think this is the correct approach. (Although Watts’ game on the weekend would have tested his patience and I would always pick our best 22. I doubt he is in it the way he is playing.)

I also think Roos realises he has more chance of improving Watts’ intensity and turning him into an AFL footballer than he has improving the skills of the alternatives (McKenzie, Nicholson, Evans, Fitzpatrick etc).

The man is obviously a fool sue.

The answers are all here.

Can some one tell to fire up please.

I am sure the answer is on here somewhere it's just a matter of working out which one it is.

First sentence may be true, but the second? Of all the criticisms of Watts, that is silly. He dropped a chest mark the other week, but this week he took a contested one-handed one (and dropped an overhead one which probably shot his already fragile confidence). I saw Hawks players drop chest marks on the weekend while demolishing their opponents. That is not Watts' problem.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
