What benefit is there for Melbourne?

Not that you don't want pay someone their worth but the benefit to Melbourne if he signed a two year extension would be that it wouldn't be an expensive exercise. If the footy department believe he has got what it takes to develop into a really good footballer, extend the contract whilst his price is low. I reckon it is a risk after 6 games ( even though he has shown plenty) but an acceptable risk.

Will be very interesting to see what position JKH plays over his career, a player with class and smarts like that could play in just about any position.

Disagree, infact nothing like Stanton. Reminds me more of stokes and Stevei Motlop. Has good speed and wins alot of the ball which is something I thought JKH couldnt do so he has surprised me there.

I wanted to get away from the forward-midfielder comparison to a pure midfielder comparison.

He finds the footy and links up well. Stanton does the same (from time to time), he is neat but not explosive. He is a good player Stanton.

JKH can punch through this ceiling but he has already shown me that this is what he can get to on exposed form.

Similar size-wise and athletically, but JKH seems to have much better hands, and more than anything I'm impressed with his footy IQ at such an early stage of his career.

He plays the game intuitively, and makes very smart decisions.

His hands are always set to take the first option, but he's quick to adapt to what is given to him.

I think, although he may not be recognised as one, Christensen is 100% a pure line-breaking midfielder.

He doesn't spend a lot of time crumbing up forward, unless he follows the ball down there from the midfield.

Yeah, if we want to move away from comparisons - I like that he is neat, takes the game on and tries to not waste a possession. He's composed. He doesn't have great speed, but he does know where the footy will be. That's the toughest skill to learn for a mid.

Not fast...but evasive. Great agility and side step.

When you watch him play at AFL it makes you wonder why he was taken so late. Surely that evasiveness and quick thinking was evident last year?

Most of all he plays like JKH, and he wears our colours. Forget the comparisons, under Roosy's guidance he has the attributes to become a 'benchmark' player of our very own.

Apparently he mentioned at training this morning that he'd love to nail down the wing spot.

Noticed on Saturday he seemed to do a few nice things down back as well as forward, so the wing seems like it would be a good spot for him.

He's certainly a joy to watch in action. Some of his moves are majestic!

I initially posted this as sarcasm as everyone is posting about silly similarities "Stantion etc".. I deleted this post soon after I realised I was posting on Demonland, where someone will go out of their way to quote it using statistics and miss the obvious sarcasm completely..

His lack of size (173cm, 68kg) would have thrown the recruiters off, I think. What we've learnt from JKH so far is that there's no substitute in this game for class. IMO, it won't be long before these types start getting drafted in the first round again.

Which compares with Boomer Harvey's 167cm, 75kg...and 369 games (and counting). If anyone thinks size was a factor they must have forgotten that one of the great appeals of AFL is that all shapes and sizes can get a game as long as they've got the skills. (Admittedly, if you're small, you must be fast - either by foot or in mind).
