It would be great to draft a gun (get it right) and as PR said, 'sell some hope'. We're so bereft of (hope) right now....

I saw Judd play his one and only WAFL game, would love to see a Dees player do that from the outset

So are they both dominate players in the TAC becasue they are built like men playing against boys or are they the best players regardless of their size advantage??

Fair question but they both have skills to back it up. Brayshaw kicked three goals and Petracca two and both were real barometers for their team (sandy beaten early when brayshaw quieter and on top as he lifted and he same for Eastern with Petracca).

So I would say they are the best players out there regardless of size but with their size they should he able to play senio footy round one next year.

Hope that makes sense. Clearly I was impressed with both of their talents and personally would be wrapt to get them at pick 2 and 3. But i ain't no recruiter nor even profess to watching any footy at u 18 level so nothing to compare with really.

Well 2 years ago was Wines playong with smaller bodies and Toump playing with similair bodies.

Few years earlier was Darling playing with a bigger body and Cook with average body. Same goes for Watts and Hurley.

I would prefer the bigger body this time. They seem to make the transition into AFL much better.

I didn't go but I'm told that he was very composed during the training sessions and, like Stretch, didn't look out of place at an AFL training session.

All our players look composed during training...alas.. when they play a game proper.......

Or they could be Luke Tapscott

Or they could be Luke Tapscott

He may as well be the skinniest and made of ceramic with the amount of injuries he gets.

Terry Wallace now has Peter Wright at 1 in the TAC cup future stars rolling draft.

Petracca @ 2

McCartin @ 3

Brayshaw @ 4

Not shocked by this at all

Wright is a beast, would love him at the MFC

Petracca is what we really need though

Petracca

Wright

Brayshaw

Marchbank

Durdin

Wellar

Ahern

Levade

Duggan

Wellar

Lever

My guess at the final order

Really hope we get Petracca with pick 2. Assuming Frawley leaves and we get pick 3, I'd like to see it traded again for a ready made midfield gun. If Saints pick Petracca with pick 1 I'll be annoyed, as we need midfield talent and he seems to be the best of the lot with a big body and is ready to go Round 1 2015.

Roos has already stated that we need class through the midfield.

So I think we are very well placed.

If Petracca lasts till pick 2, we take him... Otherwise we take Brayshaw.

Personally, I'd take Brayshaw, he is a dual sided, contested ball and skillful player.

But.. I understand the hype about Petracca, he has made massive inroads this year.

Big bodied kid, explosive, athletic, loves a goal and appears to have that natural - freakish - talent.

Happy with either these guys, would be a dream to land both.

For what it is worth, I think St Kilda might take Wright.

#55 Sydney - Oscar McDonald (VIC – KPD)

Height: 196cm, Weight: 88kg, DOB: 18/03/1996

Recruited from: North Ballarat

Range: 30-rookie

Profile: Key defender, brother of Melbourne’s Tom.

From the Bound For Glory phantom draft.

Pick 57: Melbourne – Oscar McDonald

Position: Key defender/forward

Height: 196 cm, Weight: 88 kg, DOB: 18/03/1996

Club: North Ballarat

Projected draft range 50-rookie

Player comparison: Jackson Trengove

Oscar McDonald is one of the better key defenders I am really bullish about in terms of advancing to the next level. He is tall and athletic, and also picks off numerous forward 50 entries with his tremendous ability to take intercept marks and rebound strongly. Best described as a general in defence, McDonald – the younger brother of Melbourne’s Tom – is extremely versatile as a defender, and, unlike most key defenders, he loves to back himself and use the ball by foot. He hits the ball flat and hard, and has a really nice turn of foot, being deceptively quick over his first few steps. The Rebels have also used him as a key forward, and he’s shown he can be just as damaging at both ends. He has a fantastic leap, strong hands, a really good work rate and rarely ever goes to ground.

Hope we dont trade either pick

I'm the opposite. I hope we trade both away. 1 for a Dom Tyson kind of deal which sees a lower first round pick to come back in which could be used on Lavarde, Duggan, Ahern etc. and another to be used on trying to get a ready-made player from another club.

I would be extremely surprised if we kept picks 2 & 3.
Roos needs instant improvement, and he can't afford to wait for an 18 year old to develop.
He has also shown a proclivity to trade away high draft picks.
Expect to see at least one, if not both, of these picks traded.

Im sure this has been brought up but if hes available at a later pick would we take Tyler Roos?

Posted

Ahh ok, no I havent seen him play but they talked him up in that article on the AFL website

"Medium midfielder whose athletic traits allow him to continually outwork his opposition. Uses the ball very well by foot and has good game sense. Averaged 19.3 disposals, at 69 per cent efficiency in three matches at the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Plays for the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup but was eligible under state of origin rules to play for NSW/ACT."

We have to start backing ourselves in to turn top end talent into superstars

Really hope we dont trade pick 2 or 3

Posted

If we draft Tyler Roos I doubt Paul will be taking off to Hawaii in 2 years.

We can offer him a 100k contract and do the opposite GWS did with the Scullies

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
