I wonder if people have a different opinion of Frawley now.

His value is going up.

The thing about losing him is not just losing a very good player (that's bad remember - you always complain about that), you are also hamstrung in Free Agency once again.

We won't want to go after players as it will dilute our probable Pick 3-5 compensation for Frawley.

I hope we keep him and he will be well paid - we don't have much talent to pay, so the talent we do have is overpaid. Deal with it.

Emma Quayle really does lead the way with coverage of potential draftees. Here's her take on what she considers to be an even draft pool in 2014: Why this year 's AFL draft looks the most even in years

Meanwhile, despite the absence of the elite prospects on tour with the AIS the AFL Vic Country and Vic Metro training squad trial games get under way this weekend: U18 Vic Country and Metro trial games

For Melbourne it's not a great draft in terms of midfielders and its midfielders I still believe we need.

Peter Wright, McCartin and Durdin will be the top 3 i reckon

Posted

Really will depend on who holds the picks.

I think Goddard is a very good chance for top 3.

Wright, McCartin, Durdin...

Goddard, Lever, Brayshaw, Smith...

Petracca, Pickett, Weller, Lamb...

Father-son picks in Moore & Waterman.

And Heeney stood out to me as a "who the hell is that kid?!" type.

It's a shame he's zoned to the Swans.

I've looked at this draft relatively closely and it's not a super draft.

I'd be happy with another one high pick for two mid first round picks or pick / player trade if we could work one out.

We will need another couple of good talls. This draft will provide, the midfield is on the way and we will add more to it.

I'm not being facetious but is it on its way Rjay? Perhaps I'm being greedy but wouldn't it be great to have our own Jaeger Omeara.

Would rather Tony Lockett. Because we have had such a poor midfield I can understand where you are coming from but with Tyson and Viney led by Jones, Vince and Cross...Salem to come, yes we are on our way. With half reasonable drafting from here on we will top that list up, it's the really good talls that are hard to get. This draft offers some good prospects.

Aside from Chip, we have no hulking KPD to tackle the big forwards, plus it will take a good 3-4 years for that player to be trained up and ready to take over from Chip.

Our rucks are pretty thin. Spencer is basically the only one able to get on the park, Gawn is too busy talking in to a microphone and seems to be perpetually injured, whilst Jamar is almost a pensioner.

Given that Clark has also retired, we are another KPF short. Again, they will need to take a couple of years to be physically ready to play the game on a consistent basis.

As for our mids, well we need many more good one's coming in, but they are generally quicker to mature and the good ones are a dime a dozen compared to drafting quality talls.

I'd try and bring in quality talls this draft, sign Chip so as to not be in a situation where we would want to maximise compensation, and try and bring in a quality mid via FA.

Tyson is a gun.

Absolute gun.. We underrate Dommy T.

This is basically his first year, he hasn't played much AFL football.

Tyson is killing it, we haven't had a kid show this much - since god knows when.

Dom Tyson is one player everyone is taking for granted, not just MFC supporters.

I hear the media rave on about Kelly - given he is good, looks great - but they take D.Tyson for granted.

This kid just racks em and stacks em - and will only get better.

It is like Wines last year and Selwood in his first couple of years, they look ready made, so the media get complacent about their rate of improvement.

We have to remember also that next year we will likely add Trengove, Toumpas and Salem to our midfield. IMO we need some good key-position players to augment our forward and back lines!

Been saying this since we picked him up, a great get and will be one of the top mids in the comp in the next few years. Not doing bad for 17 games.

Hogan will help a lot.. The addition of Garlard will sure up our backline.

Atm we are playing without our best defender, I don't think our KP stocks are that bad.

It is more of a case of having a full list up and running.

We could do with a young forward though, no doubt.

Also need to look for one of the class young rucks in WA not yet established and throw a bit of cash at them. A bit like Mumford at Geelong.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
