NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong

Why isn't Fitzpatrick forward? They are just double teaming Hogan.

he has been from what I've seen. Just not in the right spots

Yeah...where did Fitz go. Has a good tank, very little involvement, so why was he being "rested"?

that was a pretty poor first quarter from us.

geelong were able to take it away from the centre with impunity, and our defensive forwards - toumpas, byrnes - did not put a scintilla of pressure on their running overlap defenders.

clisby composed and neat down back, dunn the same, watts and michie working hard on the wings.

only three players - cross, spencer and bail - have laid more than one tackle, and then only two tackles each. we've really lacked defensive pressure tonight.

Actually, the scoreboard flatters us.

Maybe....but in this "practice game" one can see Roos' game plan evolving.

We are miles away from Geelong and that's ok.

I'm liking our tackling in close, but we seem a lot more hesitant to move the ball than we were last week. Maybe the opponent is too daunting?

Ok, he isn't helping out poor Hogan then..

Hogans leading to the right places - and multiple leads - but Geelong are just waiting on the high long kick in.

Much prefer Clisby to Terlich. Been saying this for a long time

Smashed that quarter. Our ball use is still very panicked when real pressure is applied. Clisby a highlight.

Geelong are a top 4 quality team and we are matching them imo in most areas, the difference in polish is just incredible, but we will get that in time, the direction and game plan is there though, first time in 5 years.

Geelong got a serious and slightly scary run on, it seemed like it was all their way for a lot of that quarter. BUT we still managed to peg a few goals and keep the scoreline (flatteringly) under control.

What would that have looked like 6 months ago?

I'm on the edge of my seat for the next quarter...

all I got from the radio was we have no forward structure, getting smashed out of the middle, watts had a good 1st quarter and we are handball happy.

Viv!

For those who suffer from MFCSS, surely this means the final nail in the coffin on Frawley's future with the Dees.

finis gawn ?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
