I think we've been through all the argy bargy about Liam, his rise and fall and his troubles over the past two years.

The bloke's just trying to pick up the pieces and get his life in order. I understand he's been cleared to play his first game with the Tiwi tomorrow.

Why don't we just wish him well in that and leave him be?

I'll be looking for the results and supporting him with the hope that he and his community can all find some peace and contentment.

Wishing people well is the opposite of wishing people ill.

You don't need to approve of someone's crimes or lifestyle to wish someone well. Not sure where in WJ's post you got the message that those actions were perfectly fine.

I've known a few indigenous men who have been ratbags in thier younger days to then become good elders and leaders in thier later years trying to steer young blokes in the right direction.

Jurrah went on to drink drive after that, amongst a raft of other criminal offenses.

Demonland was singing his praises before that, I was proven to be 110% correct, not that it's about that.

But I love the MFC and I do not want to see it be brought down by sociopathic individuals like Jurrah - he done enough damage.

Once again, what you forget to highlight Torpedo, are the victims! Jurrah was lucky to of not killed anyone drink driving, lucky to of not killed his cousin.

Spoke to liams cousin Darren Talbot and he mentioned that Liam two Mentors in Bailey and Stynes were the big reasons he was doing so well with his life and football. After they left he was really shattered and then Neeldy came in he had absolutely no time for Liam or his issues and family.

Darren had to fly down numerous times to be with Liam and every time he approached Neeld, he found him to be very unapproachable and cold.

He was a good communicator that Neeld.

What if Jurrah turned it around and started giving lectures to indigenous men about domestic violence? Would you wish him well then?

Tiwi Bomber Jurrah aims to kickstart comeback

Hopefully, this will be the start of Liam's regeneration. Last year, ABC1 replayed NTFL games at some ungodly hour at night in the middle of the week. Are they doing that this year?

Happy to see him play again even in a bombers jumper.

As for the judge, jury and circumstances, a woman threw a rock at his car and Jurrah and another thug beat the [censored] out of her and were found guilty.

I would love to see him back, and by the sounds of it DD36 all he needs is a mentor in the AFL and Roosy could provide that.

He is a tall forward who plays like a small forward and a tall, a very exciting player.

If he can pull his head in (which at the tiwi bombers, i think he will) we could pick him up as a rookie.

Mate I have been giving compassion for the last half century and we are now way further done the mine than we were 50 years ago.

It does not look like it is working to me.

I have no understanding of remote area people's problems

but I known intimately two families in Melbourne with drug and gambling problems.

Compassion and understanding seems to have had bugger all success in these cases.

Hope he turns it around and gets back in the afl, but it won't be at the dees.. We already have a bloke who jumps over where jurrah used to jump too.. And now we have 3 monster forwards.. At his best and fully fit Liam had a good engine and as others have said on here he could play tall or small, and was very good on the ground. He therefore would be very good on the wing or at half forward. If it is true he kept his life together under Stynes and Bailey ( and Bailey certainly used him very effectively) he is just the sort of "project" Roos is very good at managing.

I reckon he is worth a go as a rookie, but only under strict guidelines. Maybe we should be suggesting the AFL a special rookie catagory for such cases eg have him on our list like Hogan was last year, but not under the salary cap, but eligable to be upgraded to the full list should his form and behavior warrant it.

If it works we should also have another look at Wonna, also a player of immense talent, which has been wasted.

He didnt, but my mother is a plucky little Maltese woman and she would give him a run for his money. Then she probably would pray that he would come to his senses knowing her.

But then my old lady wouldn't have bashed his girlfriend either, if that actually happened as reported.

If he was about to hurt any woman and I was there I would use whatever force necessary to stop it.

If he came to me some time later and apologised I would wish him well and hope that he meant it.

you'd have some kind of a clean-out, then, if you turfed every player who did something "unacceptable"...

(odd, though, that the Courts that dealt with his crimes have him walking around free, his "debt paid". You'd know better that the Courts though, of course.)

The sad thing is that most of the elders are damaged people also and perhaps incapable of providing leadership and guidance. May take generations to right things.

I don't want an argument. I got angry at all these big shot lawyers etc, who pulled out all stops to get him off (for their own aggrandisement ) then left him high and dry so that he could step on the next turd in his path. It was a cynical cause célèbre case of the lowest order. He should have been tried with his co-accused and justice metered out fairly and evenly. The same goes for the plaintiffs in the case. They were made to look like a bunch of blithering idiots further debasing the community. The whole saga has ruined any attempt to reconciliation with his community and made it a virtual impossibility.
