Any chance we'll see Liam Jurrah again?

Jakovich was was far better value than Jurrah. 20+ possessions playing out of the goal square was routine for him.

In his 29 game career, Jakovich registered 20+ disposals twice. I wouldn't call that routine.

You may be right. The way he owned the forward line he looked like he did. I thought he played over 50 games for us?

I too would love to see it, if he is re-drafted to us I hope the club employs an indigenous assistant (ex player) to help and aid LJ's transition back into the AFL life style. Someone he will feel he can approach and will understand any matters on his mind. Yet also someone who will give him a grilling if he belives he hasn't done something to the best of his ability. A bit of a father figure really.

Aaron Davey fits the bill perfectly. Also be responsible as the recruiting officer for indigenous talent. He is a quality guy Aaron, and we should use him wisely.

Oh, and yes, lets rookie draft Liam. Jurrah is an extraordinary talent, and Roos is just the sort of guy to focus it (with Davey's help). Losing Jurrah and Wonnamari was the beginning of the end of our forward line. Maybe we could persuade Austin to get fit as well. At his best he was one of the best crumbling forwards around.

The facebook page is definitely legit. The photo was 'liked' by Mitch Clark and Bruce Hearn Mackinnon's son Alex (Bruce is/was rudeboy on Demonland and the author who wrote about Jurrah)

Anyway it's pretty sad to read, no wonder none of the clubs have tried to headhunt him back.

I think being lost in Adelaide with nothing to do is completely different to being in the AFL system in Melbourne. He showed none of those tendencies when he was at Melbourne because he had a purpose, and he was mentored and chaperoned constantly by his indigenous fellow players, particularly AAron.. We would have to do that again, but it may well be worth it.

Roos has done this before with a number of indigenous players at Sydney. There is a huge upside in this.

Yep an 80% fit Jakovich in '94 could have got us the elusive 13th.

Jurrah wasn't in the same ball park as Allen...his game against Norf in 91 & against Collingwood at Vic Park

Just sublime....Talent to burn when switched on.

It was. Just making the point that Jako was far more of an excitement machine.

LJ could have been, Allen actually achieved it, sadly because of a chronic back injury he was finished way to early.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
