Frawley Contract talks

He is out of contract at the end of 2014, yes he will be a free agent at that time but a restricted free agent so we have the right to match any offer made for him, i am very confident that will Paul Roos in charge we will be able to keep him.

No need to apologize it's a great thread.

I agree with what's been stated above - he is an essential player and I too believe Roos can convince him to stay. Although I hope it's sooner rather than later while all this hype surrounding the club and it's future is high. Because if we finish say just outside the eight next year (let's hope it's higher) I believe more persuasion will be required for Frawley this time next year than what has been needed for Watts this year with the attached unknown yet exciting future under the likes of Roos.

He is one player that I don't think we can afford to lose, and because of this, and his Free Agency status next year, I have a feeling we may end up having to pay overs for him. He will be on a number of radars, and will be offered serious coin.

It'd take a bit to pay overs for him Billy. Imagine you could have any backman in the league - I reckon he'd be right up there in most people's calculations.

I agree with all statements made above. If he were in a Geelong he would be the second best back in the team, just behind Taylor. At Hawthorn he would be the best back. An essentual player and I hope the MFC are going to have some money allocated for next year. Worth 750,000 in my opinion.

On a slightly different topic, who is out of contract besides Watts and Sylvia?

Is that not my point?

Not really... you are saying we may have to pay overs to keep him... but if he is someone we cannot afford to lose, then it would not really be considered paying overs if we value him that highly. I know, I know... semantics ;-)

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
