Demetriou must resign.. He's far too comprimised and quite frankly...corrupt

These articles just basically attack the AFL and the way it has dealt with what happened at Essendon.

They certainly highlight that the AFL could have handled things better.

What EVERYONE in the media seems to be missing is that it would seem that there are multiple people at Essendon who have caused this whole thing BY SYSTEMATICALLY INJECTING PLAYERS WITH ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES.

it signals an unravelling

as an ideal, or a perspective consider how guardedly the AFL have kept everything they could, 'til now.

They know full well what else is happening they just don't want it broadcasted. It will be now.

They are just as complicit ,as an accessory after the fact , as anyone who instigated wrong in the first place.

The hierachy must have known. They thought they could contain it, control the dissemination of it. They were/are fools.

robbo will be going hard at the cheating bombers no doubt.

Not sure if that is a sarcastic comment, as he is a Bombers supporter.

I actually think the whole Commission should. This whole affair is just disgusting from beginning to end.

Very sarcastic Redleg

Wonder if Caro will call on everyone to resign? ( Yes more sarcasm ).

You're a sick man, DC ... join the club!:lol:

More meat for the grinders...Excellent.

Shall we now get the real story?

The caulfield doctor maybe.....

For starters.

Where is the FMD button when you need one? You couldn't make this stuff up, pun intended ... The AFL should change its name to "Deal or No Deal":wacko:

can we ask for our half million back?

that will be petty cash when this is all done.

The second of BB's Links is now a blank.

Who was lucky enough to read it??

The first one was enough!!

…and does anyone think Rupert wasn't p….off about the Age taking out the Walkley awards on this issue. Finally the HS have their heads out of their a…. and Robbo's gig might have been on the line. Would love to have heard the rocket he got about this one from his boss.

zzzzzzzzz all quiet over at the AFL site. Be interesting to see how Barrett and co chase this one down.

they will be in the Bunker...

They should stand down the AFL Commission and have a Senate Committee look into the way they've been running the competition. Enough is enough.

The newspaper beat up we had to have from the Murdoch press after having been embarrassed by Fairfax almost from day one.

The main story still has to play out and WADA won't accept cosy deals and cover ups. I suspect that the Bombers won't have the benefit of an intermediary to negotiate an outcome for them when that day happens.

Not sure why this is a surprise. I would have expected the AFL to do what was required to acheive an acceptable outcome for the competion that avoided a messy and expensive trip to the courts.

The outcome the AFL acheived ensured that Essendon and Hird have paid a heavy price for the governance balls up that allowed the finals to proceed without them. If it went to cournt the finals would have been compromised. It remains to be seen whether the penalty for the AFL offences are suffcient to mitigate any ASADA acton that may or may not eventuate.

IMO Hird is to blame for this whole mess. He has failed from day one to take responsibility for allowing the clubs supplement program the Essendon themseleves admit was out of control. He was in charge of the football dept and a buck stops with him. He should have been sacked by the club rather than defended which would have avoided all this. The threats of legal action came from Hird and co, not the AFL,

Those who critisise the AFL are essentially arguring that the AFL should have allowed this to have been played out in the courts?

Both links work fine for me ^_^

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
