New Demonland Banner

Featured Replies

The background looks sensational. Add in one borderline player, someone needs to make way for next year.

OUT = ?? In = Hoges

Love it. Anything to balance the right hand side perhaps?

Jim Stynes should never leave the banner.

How about Daisy Pearce our no.1 draft pick and Captain of the Women's Vic state team?

Stynes, Neitz, VIney,, FLower and Schwarz need to be on there

5 heart and soul players that bled for the club

Thanks. A new player will go up each day.

All current day players. Enough looking back. It's time to look forward.

Just out of interest sake, who qualifies for a photo on the banner, or do they have to earn it.

For example, does watts qualify? Has dawes and clarke played enough games? Trengove has had A bad run, as has frawley. Howe?

Garland should get a guernsey but then again, many were writing him off a couple of months ago.

I am just suggesting that players earn their spot, for example, player of the month is "hogan", and up his photo goes.

Or you could do it where a player has unanimous support on this site (almost) and a ceromy is kinda held for the new 'champion' on the banner.

I just reckon a player per day is too quick and it loses a bit of importance. Also, the actual players might feel that it becomes like an honor board for them.

Thoughts

You can try to forget the past, but you cant delete the past.

So I would retain Norm and perhaps add Checker Hughers on the outer sides. (Checker gave us the Demons).

Stynes in the middle, Robbie, Barass. Then add in current players, only because what we have going around havent been much to rave about. Jones, Clark and a few others mentioned above, we are a bit thin for nominations that deserve it atm.

Love it. No other current players until they're earned it please

The Banner, needs to be modern players only whom are worthy of there spot.

Perhaps we can have in and outs ?

Jones is a definate, other ins: M Jones, Terlich, Howe, Garland, Frawley.

Honor before honors.

Jones has earned his place so far. Don't like the pic though. Something that show's him in action....all G&T.

The Fox and Checker on either side maybe as DeeVoted mentioned.

I would include Jimma but maybe hovering inside the MCG banner as a silhouette, watching over his Demon brethren.

From there i'm not sure whether we have any "past players" or just go with new. Maybe 2 or 3 past Champions with special significance but limited to 2 or 3 greats only. The rest new.

Whoever we place on there from here though....i think it should go to a straight out poll, with nominations from the Mods.

And please, no complicated Rangey style polls....just yes or no!!

Guys, I've already finished the banner and there are no past players. We've done that and it's time to move forward. The banner is completed and a new player will be revealed each day leading up to the game against the Saints. i appreciate the suggestions but I can't please everyone. I also can't just change the banner every few days or weeks as it takes a bit of time to do.

No current players unless the sign on.

It makes sense.

The problem with our culture over the last 6 years is that we have gifted respect before it has been earned.

Please let players earn their photo on the banner, it may take 5 years to fill, and is only removed once they retire.

Long term strategic thinking.

What happened to Rangey, snow?

A lot of selective memory by many on this site, Garry Lyon was a champion on the field don't let the decisions with the coaching choice sway your views on that. For me Demonland banner should consist of

Checker Hughes - Created the Demons Legend

Norm Smith - Greatest Coach the game has seen

Ron Barassi - Legend of the club and the game

Rob Flower - another club legend in barren time for the club

Jim Stynes - a legend, a great man and a true demon

These 5 should always remain on the banner and IMO the other spots can change with current coach, current captain/s & the Bluey winner from the previous season

Leave it as it is now. It's perfect! A fresh start.

You can you know :)

Sleep on this. Have the banner with the legends of the past. Then the banner drops down after 60 secs. to then display the New. or it morphs into a banner with the new. We get the best of both.

It keeps repeating at intervals

agree sort of, but can I suggest a refinement. respect is a birthright for all living things.. can be lost thru disappointment.

But If you mean we give them status or cred before they've done anything much,,, just on U-18's reps', then I'd agree.

* & I wonder if we could make a past & present players & admin's/directors picture album, on another page?

why does it look like that half of jones' left arm (our right), has been rubbed off?

had to look twice as i thought morton had shaved his head.

other than that, boss banner! top stuff

Watching Demonl(andy)'s daily selections for the banner currently holds more interest for me than the Match Committee's team selection on Thursday nights. Not sue if that says more about the team or my state of mind.

Whilst a rotating banner would be possible - done with Flash, javascipt or as an animated gif - it would not appear on most mobile devices.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
