WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

why is that? Because our name is Melbourne? Hahaha.... Lot of good thats done so far....

Exactly.

They'd relocate Richmond before us.

Survival is currently the key issue for us, not relocation.

And I'll be happy when that sort of vindictiveness is eradicated from the club. It's exactly that attitude which has led the club to its current situation.

I wouldn't consider myself vindictive 'Jack' but I am still very angry at what happened at the club. It's not my attitude that led the club to where it is now it was poor decisions made and backed up by people who either agreed or wouldn't stand up when they should have.

The board review shows that they were ineffective and indeed derelict in their duties to run the club properly, I think we still need a clean sweep of the board and hope it happens.

Agree to the above.

... as a club, we would be more successful of the team was based out of the southern stand. because of the culture there.

Discussing Wilson and leaving aside the MFC for a moment, has any journalist in the history of newspapers, called for more people to lose their jobs.

Most of her writing is negative and she constantly calls for people to be sacked, though not generally at the RichmondFC.

All of these people have families to support, but that obviously is of no concern to her. Robinson for example told of his suicide thoughts, but again that doesn't seem to concern her. Anyone seen a piece on that?

Where are her Flanagan pieces?

She seems to me a woman filled with hate of others.

She was neither correct nor accurate about CS but that matters little to the idiots that believe her .

CS was not the reason for this clubs dire predicament .

The blame falls at the feet of the players.

I played football a bit and the fact that I didn't like an administrator from my team never stopped me chasing or tackling .

Caroline Wilson is a rabid lapdog that leaks what she thinks is info that is fed to her by the AFL.

See her write any negative articles about the drugs at Richmond?

The only reason idiots like CS where spared was because of our Gaming Licences, it's as simple as that, but there's simpletons that can't swallow that, lose our pokies lose our club.

You don't think it had anything to do with the fact that the AFL and the MFC's QC's agreed there was no evidence to prove a tanking charge and that if we were charged, the matter would end in Court, where we would win, the AFL would look stupid and then the MFC would demand the same treatment for all of the other clubs who did the same thing, do you? Then a deal was done where we were found innocent of tanking and yet fined a huge amount, that would ultimately be paid by the AFL, as will now happen.

I reckon if this thread gets to 100 pages then he just has to take the job! No choice really.

Do you think we should have gone to court Redleg or was the correct decision made?

I have always wished the club had shown more fight, but of course none of us knew the pathetic financial situation we were left with in February.

Who knows, one things for sure is those cowboys are gone and the clubs broke, and Paul Roos isn't coaching Melbourne.

Supreme Court litigation would have cost the club at least $1m and even it won the case, where do you think we would be now in terms of getting financial and draft assistance from Vlad the Vengeful?

I understand that. But would it have given the club a backbone of strength that we do not have now, which is why i ask.

1 million are you sure?

I recently heard that the AFL and Essendon had spent a combined total of about 2-3 million and I assumed they would have spent a lot more than us. (all the Essendon staff/players basically have their own lawyers).

We should have just hired Harvey Specter - he could have won it single handed and even if we lost at least we would look a million bucks!

harvey_specter-1349824.jpg?i

Jumbo - just to confirm, you think PJ plans to move the team and you want Brett Kirk to be the senior coach?

What happened to you mate? I remember you being alot less...nuts. Has supporting this club finally made you crack? Would be understandable.

Hey P_Man, hope you're well.

No, I'm still here, albeit angry and seemingly delirious.

You and I both know that this next appointment has to be THE one. The names bandied around do not ignite any passion in me, bar Roos.

They are tired. No longer 'giants' in their chosen field. Think about a team of young, contemporary footballers, not long out of the game - they know culture, tactics, fitness, an ability to build capacity in the skill sets of players and they have marketing nous.

I don't want sympathy from anyone in the AFL!

As for PJ? I'll reserve my judgement....as tatu so eloquently reported, he lacks the 'emotional connection' to the club.

Talk soon.

I understand that. But would it have given the club a backbone of strength that we do not have now, which is why i ask.

It just doesn't register with you does it, your very slow off the mark, the AFL controls us, we lost our club because of those cowboys, I bet you CC accepts his 2 year payout from the AFL, he should be [censored] ashamed of himself and stripped of his life membership, PJ OTC the other night summed up people like cuddles perfectly, Goodbye your not welcome.

A court case would not have given the club a backbone. If that statement was true, every club would take the AFL to court over other issues. Salary cap concessions, the crows losing draft picks etc etc.

The fact is a court case was a lose/lose for all parties. It would serve those who are [censored] at the club and the AFL only.

I get it & i actually agree with you if you read carefully enough.

I have always said CS should have been frog marched out after 186.

CC's payout makes me very angry. So what doesn't register mjt??

I enjoy your consistency. You say "The only reason idiots like CS were spared" and then in reply to Redleg offering other more credible reasons, you say 'Who knows'. I now know I shouldn't take you hyperbole too seriously in future and won't bite. You just want to put the boot into CS & CC and defend C Wilson at every opportunity. I can understand the former but not the latter.

Taking the AFL to court doesn't register, you say it would've given us a backbone and I say it would've left us a quadriplegic .

Spot on.

There's a lot of mindless tough talking that goes on here.

Sorry but I can't help myself!

Next Wednesday night is the Foundation Heroes dinner. It is going to be bloody hard to extract cash from members this time around. That is why i pose the question to Redleg.

If the club had gone to court and put up a fight i think supporters would be far more focused to jump in.

At present i don't think supporters really care because we arejust so bad.

The gaming licences were definately a large consideration

We need to raise money for far more than just the playing group JR.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?
