WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

I guess I must be in the camp with those who don't think this is a done deal at all.

Someone will need to be busy in the kitchen because there could be quite a few big bowls of disappointment served up soon.

I find this all very interesting. My understanding from within the club (those who really care who can stroll through 177 pages and read my previous posts) is that Paul Roos has indicated to the club that he will be our coach next season. It is also my understanding that he has not yet signed. I know as a fact the Roos has been in communications with MFC since R2 and that despite what he has said publically has remained in communications with the club during this time. That's almost 6 months! I believe Paul Roos is a man of outstanding character, but it is clear from the charade that he is not speaking as absolutely and out-right honestly as he claims. For example it is a fact that he publically said he had no interest in coaching Melbourne whilst in discussions with PJ................. but knowing this he always left the door just a little open. As I have said before PJ and the board has always maintained confidence they would get their man.

The reason for the final delay is interesting. It could be Roos waiting for final confirmation of AFL assistance, it could be fine details on the structure of the club and his ultimate power, it could be family as stated (however I don't believe so), it could be a respect thing with Craig and the season that has been, it could be details on his contract. Nevertheless, I don't believe for one second that this master of the press would have knowingly rehashed this story if he was not intending to take the role.

All I am saying is don't take his words on face value, with Roos you need to read between the lines and the writing between the lines reads positively.

If he has been speaking to the club since round two wouldn't that indicate it was under the old administration???

That means schwab and don would of commenced this and pj finishing it off...

Just saying

Should we be worried that the club is telling us what Roos is telling us, that a decision hasn't been made yet? Could it be true?

Why do I feel like this could all go seriously wrong at the last minute and leave us all crushed.

That would be Roos face when he realises he let 6-8 million dollars go.

But yes - don't believe everything you read on Demonland - this place is practically a 'sauce' factory, this place has more 'connections' than Peter Jackson.

it's also the fact that basically every single commentator in the media thinks it's done

Announcements are about ensuring you have maximum media exposure, I respect Roos for the position on the B&F, it is the absolute closure for 2013 and to thank Neil Craig for his efforts in what has been hell.

You then enter into the first week of the finals, the media is all over this from Friday to Monday, 11am Tuesday Roos with his Wife and Family enter the long room for the press conference. The MFC then dominates the media all afternoon Tuesday, Wednesday and if we play the media right announce Ling as his assistant on Wednesday afternoon so we get Thursday as well.

Roos and Ling then continue their media for Friday till the following Monday and all of the sudden the MFC has hijacked the media for the second week of the finals.

Or the other side he comes out on Friday and closes the door stating he will not coach us.

There are two things that we have to applaud the club for firstly, chasing the man they want and hopefully getting him and secondly until Roos went on the TV last Friday no one outside Roos and the Club had any idea that we were still talking, considering he had met our leadership group last week this is a great effort to keep it all under wraps. The old administration would have had it all through the media.

maybe they're not. just timing it for bluey night?

resign re-sign

be interesting who does what or watt does which !! ^_^

Don't stress folks. 'No news is good news'

The longer this takes the more certain I am we have our man.

PJ is a shrewd operator and would not let the line go slack until the fish is in the net.

I think you are right Steve and in particular your last comment.

Hogan is as contracted as Fitzpatrick who re-signed last week - he's signed till the end of 2015.

I am actually a bit worried that Roos' wife will say no to him coaching again... but god I hope not!
I am so hoping that we will get Roos!

Yeah, she's going to say no to those millions... would you?

Roos family would defs all know about it by now. If it was an issue they would have said flat out NO.

Spot on, why should Hogan sign now when he can wait to really show what he's capable of doing and getting a lot more money.

Okay lets put this too bed

As a realist I am ready to concede that I have little chance of being elected to the Senate at this up coming Federal Election even though I am standing,

On the other hand as for Paul Roos not to be appointed to the Melbourne Football Club as coach for 2014, I know as a realist that this is just not going to happen and there is no need to concede this in any shape form or fashion !!! .

It has gone way too Far now with the Media , the AFL , and with Roos himself for it not to be a done deal now!!

So I suggest to all the supporters here . Kick back , relax , have the Beer and Champers Ready as well as the chips and party poppers because it has been a long , long time for all of us as MFC supporters, since we have had anything to really celebrate and to me the appointment of ROOS is something definitely worth celebrating . What it translates into in the season proper we don't know yet , but at least as a supporter it gives me something to look forward to and though I was reserved in my judgement before I am now fully accepting that this is real and not just a dream.

I for one plan to saviour every moment of it from here on in

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
