Thank You.

All indications are that Ross will coach us. I am hearing this from player managers to board members with whom I speak. Melbourne has always been confident they would get their man Roos and this is now close to reality.

However, he has not signed yet, things can still go wrong. I remember the Lyon situation last season. Or the Mich Clark situation if you were a Freo supporter. Or the Judd situation where his manager told me after the interview with Melbourne that he was coming to the Dees only for Juddy to change his mind in the following days. As such I am still cautious, a deal is not a deal until the ink has dried.

Yep and this is Melbourne, so remember kids, anything can and will go wrong.

Edit: and Paul Roos will be the biggest d$ckhead in history for meeting with our players only to then turn the job down, and shall be put in the Tom Scully bucket of hatred.

Thinking about how Roos can name is price and conditions etc and has multiple clubs chasing him - made me think about who are the coaches (currently in the game or recently out) that would demand the most interest if they were on the market for a new home and price wasn't a consideration. (which it obviously isnt for us!)

1. Clarkson

2. Roos

3. Lyon

4. Scott (Geelong variety)

5. Longmire

6. Worsfold

7. Buckley

Malthouse would have been high on the list last year same with Bomber Thompson.

Back onto the topic of Paul Roos....

Is he still a possibility to sign with the MFC? Is it still purely 50/50?

What's the latest news on it all?

Hope so,

I think i've spent more time looking through News websites/twitter/fbook/afl web site and every kind of forum every 10 minutes waiting for news than actually working....

A certain manager of a certain high profile, high draft pick who's contract is up, has told me that it has been confirmed to him by our club that Roos will be coach.

This story has played true since I first discussed it on here in May. Now I am waiting to collect my winnings from the dam bookmaker who would only let me bet $20 @ odds of $8. Hope a few others here took my advice.

When confirmed this is the best possible news for our Football Club.

GNF I could kiss you

I spoke to Judd's manager (Jake) after he met with the Dees and was told he wouldn't be coming to Melbourne, although he was impressed by Bailey at the time. The reason they even interviewed with Melbourne was because of Connor's (Jake) respect for Craig Cameron. (And no doubt because of our ladder position and the needed to wedge West Coast)

I think WCE will still sack Worsfold, give Scott Burns the reins in 2014 but you're right it is amusing,

who do you think coaches Brisbane?

What we did is "sack" Mark Neeld; if Worsfold's not at WCE next year it's because his contract was not renewed. Semantics, perhaps, but a lot more respectful for a coach who not only coached them to a premiership but has played and coached there for over 20 years. Why am I putting it in this thread? Because when the time eventually comes, I hope we have declined to renew the contract of our next coach - and only then if he didn't retire on his own terms first.

and we were one of the pawns necessary to sell the charade that he would be going anywhere but Carlton - who had already arranged an outrageous amount of money that no other club could match, to paid to him by an absurdly wealthy supporter through a salary cap loophole. Cash is king and everything is smoke and mirrors.

I agree, i'd love to hear they have called for a presser this arvo, but at the same time i think we already have a fair idea don't we?

we get to rub into Brisbane supporters how they have totally stuffed up their coaching process and we got out number 1 target which is hilarious.

Would karma be a [censored] in this instance?

Quick, hook the DeLorean up to the old clock on the town hall, otherwise we'll lose him!

If Paul Roos does in fact become the coach of the Melbourne Football Club can I suggest a temporary renaming of this board to honor the amazing work of one Peter Jackson?

Anyone want to second this proposal?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
