Chip said that they are all behind neeld and that he souldn't have to cop the flack and it has to come back to the players not the coach..

Did Chips nose grow when he said that?

One word, delusional.

Every week he says something new (along with the same old crap) that raises alarms. This week's pearler is thinking the players' mindset is not an issue. How the hell can you think that?

Is he just a stubborn idiot or is he holding on for dear life?!

I would actually contest Rhino's line about him coming in with his eyes open. He SHOULD have had his eyes open but now listening to those opening diatribes up till round 1's 'not on your life' speech, it's pretty clear it was all rhetoric. They were the words of a bloke who dealt in the theoretical side of how an AFL club should be run but they were also the words of a bloke who had never done it before and had no idea what was in front of him.

Theatrical???? He had worked at the Pies for 5 Yeats and was in charge of their midfield. He should have understood what he was coming into. It was a dangerous move. It was probably the least attractive coaching job in 2011 and he was not short listed for any others. He would have know what MFC was like before he joined. If he didn't it was the first of a host of misjudgements he has made.

And a stain on his résumé??? Look he isn't the first coach to b sacked and guess what he won't be the last. Ratten and Bailey have got successful assistant coaching roles at other clubs.

In his presser, Neeld spoke about "when we come back," guys like Terlich and Matt Jones will be better able to cope with the pressure of being an AFL footballer. But he didn't mean next week; he meant next year. This is a long long road, and regardless of whether or not Neeld is there to see it, there are no shortcuts along the road.

Don't get your hopes up for any kind of miraculous changes any time soon.

I hate it when others pick this up but I actually said theoretical.

I think there is a difference between observing a job being done and actually doing it yourself. You can learn and observe all the kind of things from seasoned professionals but what that actually teaches you when you apply it to the real world varies. Ultimately, you are stuck with the cattle you have and you have to deal in reality, not dogma. For too long, MN has dealt in dogma about 'how we did it at Collingwood'. If he was going to be practical as opposed to theoretical, he should have noticed that our 'boys' (and I emphasize boys) didn't have the body shape or tanks to take on the Collingwood game plan from day one. The game plan should have been implemented progressively but he was too idealistic about what he wanted to achieve. (That's my two cents anyway).

I would also say that Bailey at least had a season that wasn't a complete trainwreck. And Ratts got the Blues into three finals series. A bit different to being a bloke who coaches 5 wins out of 31.

Neelds lack of emotion makes me sick.

He is too clinical for a gladiatorial sport like afl.

Really, his presser makes me want to puke. And to think he says thingsare going to plan and he wouldn't change a thing. Talk about pissing down our throats and telling us its raining. He is a arrogant disgrace and is spitting in the face of every MFC supporter. What a joke!

Fair call on the theory and the theatre.

FCS, he has been in the coaching box for 5 years with Malthouse. It's hardly theoretical. He should know the game and the caper. His background was a reasonable pedigree to coach. He just can't have been that naive. That's notwithstanding that he can't coach.

Bailey had four poor years and had 186 on his head. Hardly a stain on him. Ratten was deemed a failure because he did not reach near success with so much talent. All of them have moved on with any "stains". Maybe you should to.

And directly after being picked up on your misreading of theoretical/theatrical, you misuse 'to' at the end of your sentence.

Maybe you might want to move on as well... preferably to an ESL school of some description.

I can't believe people take any stock in what Neeld says in these after he was censored in his second after-game presser of his career.

Toeing the party line at its best.

Posted

The only surprise in the presser was that it took 9 minutes and 20 seconds for the first "it is what it is". It wasn't our inability to handle Freo's pressure that was the issue in the first half it was our lack of applying pressure.

Posted

Ross Lyon shat all over Neeld, so Neeld had to put 3 players back behind the ball and yet somehow it is the players' fault we couldn't get near it in attack.

You are a genius Neeld.

Someone should send this to Neeld:

Scott slams Roos' lack of mental toughness ..... after a 1 point loss to Adelaide

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-05-26/brad-scott-postmatch

I wish he could. Unfortunately, he lost the ability to do that when he came in and carried on like Don Scott at South Adelaide. Went in way too hard, way too early.

Formally it is unacceptable to begin a sentence with a conjunction. I'm aware that this is only an internet forum but you have yourself indicated a sensitivity to grammatical propriety. Within Rhino's context it is clear that he would certainly not have intended to end his sentence with a preposition and merely omitted an 'o' from his use of 'to'.

I know. I pointed that out because I don't like being spoken to like an f-wit. I don't mind banter and conversation but bad manners are another thing.

I think we'd all be advised to ignore Rhino's brusqueness.

He likes the smart, tough internet-guy image.

Each unto his own I say.

It's about time the players and Neeld stopped playing this charade. The are insulting everyone not least the supporters and financial backers of this club. Cut the khrap

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
