I'd love Dunstan, but I doubt he's a top 3 pick and he won't be there at our next.

On what I have witnessed thus far live this year Garlett wont last till pick 50 and Freo will not take a small forward. I think if available with their first pick they will take Jonathan Marsh as they are desperate for a future KPF or KPD over Acres (who I actually rate highly)

Boyd won't get to 3 'Norm'. Even if GWS don't want him he has too much trade value for them.

Matt Scharenberg could pip James Aish as the first South Australian drafted

The more reading I've done tonight, the more convinced I am we will take James Aish with pick 2 (if that's what we have come end of the season). Seems to be the most rounded midfielder of the highest ranked ones. Him or Sheed anyway, but Aish has the better skills and turn of pace around the packs.

What sort of player is Zak Jones?
I've read mainly a defender?
Being Nathan Jones' younger brother I'd hope we have a good look at him. If he has the same work ethic and hunger as Nathan then he will be a winner.

Lewis Taylor (VC) also impressed me as did Smith form WA. If these guys are available for our second pick I would look at them.

Dayle Garlett will also be taken this draft and we should seriously consider him. I now wish we had taken a chance on him as a rookie last year..

Yep, the prevailing view on this year’s draft pool is that it’s shallow. There's plenty of quality (especially midfield) for the first two rounds, but it’s going to be highly speculative after that.

I think what we do with our second and third round picks this year will be far more important for our list make up that our first pick. Unless we do something ridiculously left field, whoever we get with our first pick should be productive, if not a star. We’re in the position where we really can’t afford to get the others wrong.

Taylor’s got too much quality to slide to the second round. If it wasn’t for his height, I think he’d be a sure thing to go top 5.

Smith’s a bottom ager, I look forward to seeing how he develops from now to draft time next year.

I'd go Garlett too. We have enough leadership in our forwardline alone now that he would be well supported. The move from WA to VIC does worry me though. He seems to be settled now with his girlfriend and her family. What happens when you rip out stability and replace it with high pressure situations and expectations?

Going to watch him again tomorrow and will see how he goes, will be interesting to see in the WAFL now with the u/18 Championships finished the draft prospects playing in the senior sides now

Other than Patrick Dangerfield and Chris Judd no player even compares with what Freeman does in the contest from an explosive standpoint. Freeman as Dangerfield does wins all the contested ball and is an absolute clearance machine but he’s a guy who has that rare combination of inside game and extreme explosiveness with his pace, agility and sidestep all as good as you’ll see. In addition to that explosiveness Freeman has a real hardness to him with the way he attacks the footy and contest. Also features of Freeman’s game is his ability to take grabs overhead and his 1v1 ability. He can push forward and hit the scoreboard in a big way particularly enjoying those finishes on the run streaming into goal or running to the 50 and going long for the goal. In short this guy has all the tricks and other than Jack Martin is that only other midfielder I see as a genuine game changer.

The thing about freeman that excites me is he could end up dangerfield/judd/voss-like. The thing that worries me is he could end up tapscott/Paul haselby/des headland. But he looks a real impressive player with just a enough tricks to excite!

Josh Kelly has a similar build to Cale Morton and one that looks like it would be difficult to bulk up; I hope they pay close attention to this.

Yeah you're probably right, no similarity at all and anyway, Cale wasn't tearing it up as a junior like Josh is, was he.

Anyway Cale is now a hulking 192 cms and 88 kgs.
