Please let me know what part of my post was embarrasing?

I voiced my opinion on what I (personally) considered to be an uneven deal for most parties. And that I believe T mac should stay Bcoz of chip frawley's contractual situation and the fact MFC are not in a situation to be trading out a young promising defender.

But if your the sought that comes on here to put others down that's fine best of luck just not what I do, each to their own.

Btw You know what's embarrassing you mentioning in a post earlier in the year that you have turned off the tv and are not renewing your membership when the (our) club needs u most, I'm sure u will a member when we eventually come good.

Cheers mate

Good vibes, don't let people deter you from voicing ur opinion on this forum, liked the thinking but just didn't agree it suited all parties involved.

I was referring to your 'not bad though' comment only, I almost spewed up a little. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything :)

Well clearly I didn't mean the trade specifically as I didn't agree with it, but I liked the strategic thinking of it.

We all know posters mock trades will almost certainly not eventuate, but he's just starting some discussion in pretty quiet start to trade week.

Didn't hurt my feelings at all, say all you want. Personally and that's personally just don't find the point of putting fellow posters (supporters) down

Jeez... Would you guys trade Cotchin for Shiel? Or Cotchin and McDonald for Shiel..... Because thats what we a dealing with here....

If its Shiel for pick 2, then I won't more.... Through in Tyson and its a done deal for pick 2....

LOL

I'm not sure whether you're alluding to Trent Cotchin once being a pick 2 or that James Aish is the next Cotchin. Both arguments are so heavily flawed that I won't begin!

haha have a listen to you Wiseblood, school yard whispers there....I remembered why I stopped posting for a while on here, lame people trying to take sides on a forum. Three way trades do not happen, and GWS get totally screwed, and Adelaide would have trade of the century if that worked. You guys get so caught up in this trading thing, you don't actually live in reality and see how implausible what you are saying actually is.

I'll avoid the personal cheap shots from your previous couple of posts and stick to the footy.

Firstly, I pointed out that when looking at the trade from purely a balance point of view that it looks like Adelaide might come out winners but this thinking is why so many trades drag on and on and on and are rarely completed. There are too many egos involved in the trade business who are driven by trying to rip off the other club and avoid being ripped off themselves. In the hypothetical I put forward, the needs of all teams were addressed. Forget analysing the evenness of the trade and look at who wins. I put it to you that everyone wins. Adelaide get the much sought after pick two but in so doing have to give up two quality players. Vince is a former club best and fairest with four solid seasons of footy left in him and Otten is a former runner-up in the NAB Rising Star who is a highly respected clubman. Melbourne get a young star midfielder, an experienced B/B+ midfielder and another mid with potential who deserves greater opportunities. GWS is well stocked for mids and potential tall forwards but need bigger bodies and key defenders. McDonald gives them their tall defender and Otten gives them another defender with a big body. The balance of each club's list improves. This is what all trades should be about. GWS shouldn't feel like they've been ripped off. Most here will feel like McDonald's importance to us structurally is actually more important than Shiel to GWS given the high number of elite young midfield types they boast. Adelaide would be stoked with the opportunity to draft one of their potential local stars Aish or Scharenberg and we get the injection of midfield talent we desperately crave. It's win win win. If you're worried about the balance or the fairness then later draft picks can be introduced. For example Adelaide could throw picks 42 and 60 our way in exchange for 54 and 72. Or they cold trade Henderson in a separate deal for a pick in the 20's and then use that to keep us satisfied.

Anyway, this is a thread about Shiel and for me he is central to this trade. If we get Shiel onto our list we're winners. GWS aren't interested in picks. My gut instinct is (reading between the lines) that he might be open to the idea of coming back to Melbourne and possibly the MFC. If that's the case and the hard work is done convincing him to move, the next step will be satisfying GWS.

Stupid comparison. Shiel would have easily gone top 3 in his draft year if he hadnt been pre listed by the Giants.

GWS would want more than pick 2 for Shiel.

Agreed, but he's not a tall. We can't be guaranteed Chip will be around in 2015 either. Then we would really be up the creek!

One would argue that Chip will be a Dee in 2015 and beyond if you believe the MFC post where he claims "I love this place' and his 'veins bleed red and blue': http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-10-02/frawley-still-a-true-demon-in-dark-times and http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-10-09/players-need-to-drive-change-frawley It is only Demonlanders such as CD which seem committed to turning his departure intpo a self-filfilling prophesy.

Why do you think GWS would be entertaining the idea of another top pick? Mate they are laughing if this deal is done.... They want Aish... If the deals not done they will probably take him at pick 1....

What I am saying is, I believe Mark allen meant Dylan Shiel but just got his numbering wrong! The earth is slow but the OX is patient!

hahaha, so was the Ox in his latter daze.

but he is often on the money

If we can nab Dylan Shiel, I'll be forgetting about Stewy Dew pretty quick.

If there is one team that can afford to let go of a young midfield talent it's GWS.

By the sounds of it GWS are into Scharenberg in a big way so they would probably weigh up the relative value of Shiel & Scharenberg to their list when we offer them pick 2 for Shiel - They would lean towards Scharenberg I reckon.

It's fair to say Shiel holds greater relative value to our list than Scharenberg, but I'm open to be convinced otherwise?

Only sticking point is convincing Shiel to come to us.

this make sense to me of whats going on & the delays re tooing & frowing

any young player who pines for a return to Vic, they may be better just dealing. but they'll wait hoping we'll get restless & relent, & give a bigger offer.

Regardless of how good they think Scharenberg is they are nuts to trade an in contract Shiel. He's their best young midfielder and will help them win games next year.

I dont see it as us relenting but GWS relenting if Shiel is truly homesick. But I'd make sure he was properly home sick ie medically depressed and really needing to leave otherwise they are fools. For that reason I don't see it happening unfortunately.

His girlfriend is apparently living in Melbourne with his Dad who so happens to be Richmonds development coach.

depends, we're guessing what is in GWS's minds, & also in Dylans. but to me because Dylan is looking to Vic' whilst still a Year on contract, that he is serious on a return to Vic.

so I think this makes GWS vulnerable to losing him cheap next year as a free agent, although there would be many competing with contracts for his Autograph on paper. I'm not sure about F/A compo rates? what they'd get for him in that scenario?

I'm happy for us to stand our ground with the dealings, & not cheapen it with lesser types. we need hard heads. not S/C's.

Nice reminder...lol... He looks good against kids...lol... I'm not opposed to have him, i just wont the sweetener to go our way... I don't think he's that great.... Aish will over take him in three years.... Maybe put up a video of Aish, so we can compare the two? All the good stuff in that video was of Shiel as a junior...

He wouldn't be a free agent next year. He would be out of contract and could walk into the uncertainty of the draft but he wouldn't be a free agent.

But you are right that if they think he might leave in 12 months, they might be better off trading him now while they have the fallback of the year remaining on his contract.

Admittedly the Cotchin comparison isnt about right.... Aish is more a mould of Ben Cousens(without the emotional drug problems)...

Just in case anyone needed reminding....

http://youtu.be/eO9EPdxtYiY

He reminds me of Dusty Martin - pace, confidence and has a massive boot on him

I would like to see the Dees us pick 2 on him - ready to go round 1 2014 - where as Aish and other draftees will need time

Lets not kid ourselves we aren't port - we haven't got the midfield depth to support a 1st year player

Sheil is not even close to Martin....jeez...

Why is Shiel getting massively over rated here? He is not worth pick 2!!!
