GAMEDAY - Round 6

Featured Replies

Viney showing great desperation.

Sounds like we're woeful.

At least we're matching them in clearances and contested possessions. If that keeps up all day, that's at least something.

Obviously, an inability to pressure the ball carrier, coupled with our ridiculously poor skills, will lead to us losing most games.

we arent really matching them in anything... this is going to get very ugly

well done Dees... 3 points !!!

Yarren holds Nicho clearly, we get nothing.

They nearly rip Vineys head off - we get nothing.

Murphy gets slightly patted on his as* and gets awarded a free kick.

When sides are down like we are, you never get the rub of the green with the umps.

Uncontested possessions:

CFC 62 MFC 30

We have no pressure and the zone is useless.

Other than the fact I'm sick and lying on the couch I think I would turned this off and gone out to enjoy life or some [censored].

I hope they don't rip Jack Vineys head off before he gets rewarded a free kick.

Agree, he's been taken high at least 3 times without a free

Rohan Bail is a joke, what the hell was he doing running into an open goal and then acting like a [censored]

i guess its not his fault hes in the team though

Just dont have the class or talent. It wasnt a complete sh1thouse effort as i think we could be down by more

Happy with the intent. Despite bring down by 5 goal.

Dunn excellent, outplayed Judd

Would be a different score line if we had Dawes, Hogan and Clark in the forward 50. Thats where we have been let down.

Carlton small forwards also chopping us up.

We cant drop our heads today

And now with Grimes being injured, I pronounce season 2013 officially dead. I hate everyone.

Let's look at it this way. I don't believe the boys are squibbing it. The problem, as beelzebub said, is that the boys are unable to play instinctive football. There is no trust. Jones goes into packs to fish out the pill and he is quite good at this. The next stage is where we fall away. Where are the outside runners? It's like no one actually believes the ball will come out of the clearances so they sit there floating around like goldfish, mouths open and staring into space.

Brilliant! Grimes subbed out in the 1st qtr with a shoulder :( at least that brings on Kent though

I don't think we have the right coach for these players.

Ill watch the next ten minutes and if it gets uglier ill go for my nightly run. Good to see we are t least having a crack of some sort

know exactly how you feel mate. Could be tempted to do weeding if I had any energy !! lol

We are actually. Leading I50's and clearances, about equal on HO's and contested possession.

Dawes in next week, need a forward line with a bit of shape.

Skills.

Like alot of our young boys, they panic whenever a tad of pressure is placed upon them. And no it's not Bail's fault he's in the side. He's far from ready for AFL level/tempo footy. This comes back to the Coach and FD. I would have Magner/Couch in this team well before the likes of Bail and Strauss. At least until they've learned their craft in the Magoos for a while longer. Also i really don't see a plus for having Nicho in vs Blease. Blease offers a change of pace and elusive ability that allows him to escape his man that Nicho doesn't have atm and Blease also has a more penetrating kick IMO.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
