Unfairly maligned

Colin Garland's game today was solid. A lot of mistakes were made today by our defenders, but he did a couple of great things today. A few of his marks and attacks on the ball I believe started our resurgence in the last today.

He's an attacking, solid defender when playing on the third tall or small. Definitely has to be part of our core defensive set up going forward. Well done, Colin.

i dont think he has been unfairly maligned.......

he shows alot sometimes (matches like today), yet other times goes missing and makes simple mistakes which isnt good enough for an experienced player

seems to care alot about the club tho

He did a lot of rubbish things at the start and a lot of good things at the end.

That's a confidence thing for mine. He stood up when the game was there to be won. We needed rebound from defence and he gave it.

BOG for mine with Jones.

I thought Gawn was fantastic too. Provided a target up forward, took some strong contested marks and particularly in the first quarter, showed he was a solid tap ruckman. Mistimed his leaps a lot across the second and third terms, but was far more impactful than Jamar.

Always been a Garlo fan, been better than his mate frawley this year

yep credit where credit is due - Great game Garlo

Does the fantastic final quarter erase the slops he started with.

The guy was drafted as a forward and can mark. It's time he starts intercept marking, sprinting with the ball and using his long kick.

You don't kick 12 goals in a quarter without half back dominance and garland showed it.

Good to see he has pride and hope he takes the confidence going forward.

Just got back. Great to have a win.....in spite of Watts and Frawley who were both insipid.

Garland is another who has been effected by the Melbourne culture. He's plateaud, at a level previously thought acceptable as a 3rd stringer, but now he must become a leader in the back half, So he has to lift another level.

no cutting slack, he needs to hoist himself Up from where he's been.

He was good today, but that doesn't mean he is unfairly maligned because one good game. I actually think he has gone under the radar far too much over the last couple of seasons compared to some others.

Its like something clicked and he decided, stuff this ive got to stand up.

Lets hope it was that sort of realization for the whole team, and that last quarter can be an impetus for the rest of the season.

Yeah - not an overall consistent game but did what was needed when it was most needed

Maxy - what a legend. Up forward he always provided a contest and several times brought to ball down to a crumber who knew that Max could bring it down for him. Mutual confidence. GO MAX.

Chip shows about as much interest as JW, at the moment.

Along with N Jones and Sylvia, stood up in the fourth.

His previous three quarters were pretty average, though. Fumbled and looked a bit lost at times.

wtf.. last week he was absolutely horrendous, he didnt even cop much for it, and youre calling it unfair. He had a great final qtr today, although 1 of the 2 big marks he took was v lucky not to have been a free to GWS

I agree. Like Sylvia, he seemed to do very little prior to 3/4 time but did well in that last quarter. Was Sylvia playing in the midfield prior to that? It was only at the beginning of the 4th that I noticed him at the centre bounce and boy, did he have some impact after that.

I thought we had some pretty consistent putter-innerers throughout the game including both of the Jones boys. Matt Jones has been a great find.

Had a lot to do with the last quarter success.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
