Couldn't see a thread that grouped stories emerging of ex players looking to help out with the club's current plight.

Gerard Healy just revealed that Peter Moore has been on the phone to Greg Healy, offering whatever assistance he can.

This after the Ox has put his hand up as well.

Of course, there is the argument that what the club needs is "non-Melbourne" people, but personally I think it can only be a good thing when former greats want to offer their help. Just to have these guys around the place and getting in the ear of those who are struggling for confidence is a big plus.

The thing to remember is Ex-Players/Melbourne people will likely offer FREE help, whereas non-MFC people won't.

While I appreciate this notion, another thing to remember is that MFC people offer no previous experience in the ultimate success within the VFL/AFL.

Of course we need all the help we can get right now...that much I agree with.

The other side of the coin is that we have already brought in people that have tasted success....

I don't think the club knows what it wants/needs right now....it might just require an ultimate leader to steer the ship and make these calls.

I'm not saying we let any ex-player run the footy department because it's free... I'm saying we can do with any help we can get, and I'm sure if we're looking to hire someone we're not going to look just at ex players.

Think you've missed the point of the notion... What we're seeing is a groundswell of #demonunity and former MFC people are putting their hand up to help out in whatever way they can, to me that's what this thread is about, not hiring any former Demon we can find to run the place.

Nice to hear about Peter Moore [particularly as an ex-Collingwood captain, he feels his loyalty lies with Melbourne]. As a legal man as well as a dual Bronlow medalist he may be better than the Ox who already has put in input. Ditto with Gerard.

I agree

IMO we need an Ex topline footyplayer/Businessman 'from another club', as CEO, & the best people with business acumen under him running the business side of things.

Re the Board: IMO we should have a balance of ex Dees footy players, & business people. Because this is a Footy Club first, & a business second. Or it should be that way.

IMO, Our coaches mostly should come from outside the club, from the power clubs.

That is awesome to hear. Peter Moore (I believe) has said he has more allegiance to Collingwood but quite clearly, Collingwood don't require the kind of assistance we need. The phrase he used was 'more involved at Collingwood'. This was merely because he played there longer. Regardless of that, I welcome it.

Yes, I also had the distinct impression that Peter clearly had more of an allegiance to Collingwood. So, to hear he wants to help the Dees is, indeed, good to hear.

More the merrier to rally people behind the scenes and even get in the ear of the players.

Again, for those worried that 'we need non-Melbourne people' - they are not offering to become CEO.

The CEO and the FD can be filled with non-MFC people, but the Board, select admin areas (underpaid PR and marketing people), and player mentors (by-and-large) are going be Demons.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
