Not happy Watts is out as he was our best player last time we played them.

Blease as well.

Spewin Sellar is still in, i have zero confidence in his marking ability, and he is full forward.

Very happy, Jetta and Evans are in though.

Would also have preferred Spencer or Gawn to Jamar.

Maybe we can upgrade Gillies groin to LTI and upgrade Magner...

Also how ironic Gillies is out with Groin... No balls in that area!!!

"Groin" I think is a polite euphemism for the shortcoming you mention

Stupid decision to leave Watts out. Makes me wonder anew about Neeld. I mean we are in a development phase. What is he trying to achieve, first by subbing him early then dropping him.

The more I think about this week's team the angrier I get - for a plethora of reasons.

The live chat thing on the mfc website never works for me (doesn't show my posts). Could someone ask how far off Strauss is?

Astounded that people can complain about our performances, then defend Watts. He had a great off-season, but has been catastrophic in the 2 games he's played.

Blease also was abysmal last week.

Pathetic selection changes. But who cares. Won't make any difference so firetruck it. May as well select no-one.

Not disagreeing with you, however, Sylvia has been horrendous for years now, and yet he remains in the side.

Agree with this totally. People have been bagging how Watts has played over the last few weeks including his dedication to getting the footy, then when he is dropped it's a bad decision. I think people are being oppositional for the sake of it now. It's a bit like your damned if you and damned if you don't! I don't think Watts has been in our best 22 over the last two games. We have to make spots competitive to keep and get!

Sylvias muscles probably bring more girls to the game so since neither do anything anyway hes the better option

While the Ins definitely look pretty average on paper, the one thing that you'll get from Bail and Evans is workrate and some run and spread. Happy to see Jetta in too. Watts and Blease need to find some form, and probably best to do that at Casey where they can get a bit of the ball. Would love to see Watts played on the ball or the wing.

I dont go for him... I go for the beards ;)

I knew Watts was going to be dropped as soon as he was the sub. Why be mad. The guy has had a bad 2 weeks and its for his own good. Remember this is his 5th season. He needs to lift. Also it will get the media off his back though it will be back on the club for dropping him.

Blease is one I just dont get. I love his pace but his ball use is shocking. Rodan either play him or dont. Dont drop him every second week.

Pedersen will be a different player I reckon. No more dropping the head.

Rapt to see evans back

people wouldnt be complaing if SYlvia was also dropped along with them

Very happy Watts is gone.

Very sad when I realise it makes no difference to how rubbish the side is.

Gillies never again please.

The team has far more balance on paper than previous weeks. One less key defender, and much more run. More midfielders with Trengove on the back flank, Jones on the forward flank, Evans on the wing, bail, Tapscott, toumpas all on the bench.

I like Sylvia named in the centre, make him play as a true midfielder. I think toumpas will be the substitute, bring his run and fresh legs so he can get near it, as he has struggled and really shouldnt be in the side.

Comment From Phil

How close was Sylvia to being dropped?

Hi Phil, Sylvia's stats do not reflect his work rate last week. We hope he will continue that work rate and be rewarded accordingly. Paul.

No, we're desperate for players who are going to work hard for 100 minutes.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
