You're not Robinson Crusoe Robbie, but hang in there.

This was always going to bring out both the best (#demonunity) and the worst.

Blah blah blah - I wrote a post in one of the other Schwab threads clearly outlining his and the clubs "achievements" since he came back to the club but it was no surprise to see the likes of you and Satyriconhome were happy to just ignore those facts completely and instead just deflect with sniping anyone who dared criticise Schwab and baiting RR. The funny thing is now that the club has decided to force Schwab's resignation you believe it was the right decision because the club will always do the correct thing as far as you're concerned because they "know what's going on in the club" and we don't. So either way you spin it I was correct the whole time it is now you who has changed his position. Rather than take on board the facts and use your logical functions to form an opinion its easier for you to ridicule people who form a cohesive argument as not being in the inner sanctum and waving pitchforks which is really quite pathetic of you.

I must say though for someone with so little to say you sure do spend a helluva lot of time posting your thoughts. Basically all your opinions can be summed as "the club knows best".

All yours Tim 55 mjt, you won you pay for it.

You'll be right.

If you recall, we have had our disagreements and we all move on as we are all Demons.

I say, deal with it. Try to be as pleasant as possible and someday, I assure you, we will have football to talk about.

Just found time to watch the Press Conference in its entirety. Cameron Schwab is one class act! After being kicked in the teeth and and sacrificed to try to appease the lynch mob, he strides into the conference proudly wearing the club tie, and carrying a club jumper. He then proceeds to do absolutely nothing but stick up for the club, the Board, and everything our great club stands for.

The next morning, he was on Radio, spruiking the Club.

Not a bad word about anyone, or the slightest hint of bitterness. Just accepting his fate with total dignity, and talking up the club to the very end.

And, the frustrating part about it all is that, in spite of the endless pages of drivvle and invective, I am yet to find a single thing that the man is actually guilty of -- other than being the CEO, and therefore someone with a target painted on his back!

Just another very sad episode in the history of the MFC, I fear.

I, for one, salute you, Cam. You no doubt have made mistakes. Who hasn't? But, the last couple of days may have been your finest hour. Continue to hold your head high, and support the mighty Dees!

Thanks for your contribution to the club!

FMD I thought Range Rover had left here...

This is a completely dumb post. I said FROM THE START that those inside the MFC know more about what's happening inside the club than us so I would support whatever decision they made about Schwab, in fact THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN ARGUING ABOUT you numbnuts.

?? What is wrong with you people? So much for supporting the one club, bunch of know it all's one upping, hind sighting each other and told you soing. Guh

Hang on you accused me of a "lynch mob" mentality when the fact is I had good reason to think Schwab had to go and spelt it out which you just dismissed. Whatever I'm not interested in point scoring and I told you so's just stating a fact. I think the decision the club made was right and so do you so at the end of the day who cares and lets move on and support the Club as best we can.

By the way although I thought Schwab had to go it was never personal and I think he always TRIED to do what was best for the club. He has handled his exit with dignity when he could have very easily potted the club and further wedged the fractures and for that he must be applauded.

You his manager/agent? It's like the days when they send out cannon fodder to soften up the enemy and then the big guns come out later when it's safer; you cannon fodder 55?

Most that defended Schwab were defending the club as well; some clearly weren't and had other agendas.

You're a bit like that idiot mjt that sees this as two different teams and not one united Melbourne? What team are you on 55?

Gee Robbie - you're the one who continually keeps bring Fan up.

If you read my posts you'd see that I am supportive of the club and generally conservative when it comes to change. But I'm prepared to listen to a reasonable argument and have not dismissed concerns about McLardy, Schwab and Neeld. Fan's "agenda" is for a better MFC. I simply posted that it seems like his concerns have merit. I'm now certainly completely off the Neeld wagon and McLardy and Schwab (and Lyon) who put him there.

I support MFC, you are the one who sees "teams" and it seems you are unable to concede that your imagined adversaries have a point, now most recently you're threatening to withdraw financial support for the club - that sounds like you mainly support Robbie F.

Did you just flaunt your financial prosperity on an internet forum and then threaten to withdraw your financial support as punishment to those who dare disagree with you? Wow.

Nothing is black and white.

RF's support of the club is vexed, people's criticism of his vexed opinion is unfair, and RF's dismay at his unfair treatment is, at times, misguided.

The world is red and blue.

Sorry, there's lots of people on this forum who give generously to this club and the big spenders don't tend to share that fact with others. Threatening to withdraw those funds to win an online spat is sad.

Sometimes when you read the last page of a book you don't get the complete story; I suggest you read a bit more if you want the complete picture. Try reading from post 412.

But if you just want to hang on to your biased view, feel free.

The page where we interacted you described me as "cannon fodder" and an "idiot" when I simply pointed out that there may be substance to people's concerns about McLardy, Schwab and Neeld. I suggest a period of reflection for you.

Might I suggest to you that you post on behalf of yourself rather that posting on behalf of Fanbob in future; it looks a little sus. I don't understand why it is that everytime you respond to any post of mine you do it in behalf of someone else.

I'm sure he can speak up for himself and doesn't need you or TimD as his spokesman.

Why do YOU think Schwab got sacked?

Struggling to understand where you're coming from. How am I being thin-skinned? I was disappointed that on the same morning that so many fans were supporting the team by attending training, one poster chose to threaten to withdraw his financial support, seemingly as a lesson to those on this forum who disagree with him. I probably should have avoided getting involved because I certainly didn't help creat a good vibe!

We're all at a low ebb and posters are more than entitled to vent but at some point we (myself included) have to move on and practice what we preach about club unity.

Rob, I target you because I don't like that way act. Without a shred of evidence you have blamed Fan for leaking to Caro. Not one shred. Then you invent some clique that Fan "Informs" that wants Schwab out...and then you agree that he needs to go.

Your effort is duplicitous, hypocritical, baseless and gutless. You'd never want your own rep. smeared but you do not hesitate to crap on others.

There is no conspiracy. You are a [censored] and your behaviour has finally [censored] off quite a few people.

I don't care if you target me in fact I hadn't noticed you had.

My only question to you was why you act like a simpering toad and feel it is your responsibility to reply on behalf of Fanbob. Your personal opinion of me is as irrelevant to me as you are.

This is a forum people have opinions and if they don't like mine that's the way it is, but at least I don't come on here as a human shield.

No if you don't like what I post put me on ignore and do yourself a favour. That's about as polite as I can put it on here without offending others.

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
