"Whatever you do Jarrod, don't kick a goal!' -P.Roos

That was just a joke...

Best comes from the Leongatha Parrots

For novelty value, they should organise a game against Fev's Yarrawonga Pigeons.

That was just a joke...

Why is a Roos joke less serious than a Connolly joke?

What a joke.

Thanks KC! Good to see a demon connection with Cranbourne's coach, Melbournes own Doug Koop. How good was he in the 87 and 88 finals?

CRANBOURNE star Michael Boland has signed with VFL team Casey Scorpions.

The athletic prospect was yesterday compared to emerging Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke by Scorpions football manager Matthew Young.

Boland, 22, has played a variety of positions for the Eagles including centre half-back and ruck under coach Doug Koop.

"We targeted him at the end of last year and we've been watching him for a few years now and he's close to a couple of guys that play at the club," Young said.

"He's tall, he's lean and our coach [Rohan Welsh] compares him to Clarke from Fremantle."

From the above article I hope that Casey haven't gone out and recruited another Lucas Cook!

The focus this week might well be on Southport where the Demons take on the Gold Coast Suns but, if you've developed a fondness for Casey Fields after last Saturday's NAB Cup game against the Saints, why not come back again this week for the Scorpions' first practice match v Frankston?

The neighbouring Dolphins have recruited well, it promises to be a big day at Cranbourne East and the parking won't be anywhere near as bad as last week. I can't promise which of the Demons will be on show this week as the MFC will probably take up a decent squad and rest a few as well.

SATURDAY MARCH 16

Casey Scorpions vs Frankston at Casey Fields DL 11am VFL 2pm

However, it looks likely that some big guns will be on hand at the same venue following week (March 23) when the Scorps take on VFL heavyweights Port Melbourne and they could have a couple of handy inclusions.

Demons look to VFL.

Casey will round off its practice match series at home against Box Hill Hawks on 30 March.

I assume our New Zealand international player will get his groundbreaking introduction to the game at Casey?

From my understanding he was staying in NZ for most of the time. I presume he might come over for a block of training at some stage and maybe play VFL (that does make sense) but the main plan is to pay him to develop as an athlete first and see how he goes.

As for this VFL match it sounds like Clark and Trengove are aiming for it (but the week after might be more reasonable) and if he doesn't play this week that Dawes would be odds on to feature in it possibly with a few others trying to get some footy into them before round 1.

We'll beat Port round 1 anyway, so they may aswell have a roll down Casey.

your confidence made me lol

The twitter news from the Casey Scorpions suggests there will be some Demon represention at Casey Fields tomorrow even allowing for the 27 strong squad heading to the Gold Coast plus injuries and a few rested players:

1st praccy match is this Saturday at Casey Fields vs. Frankston. Development at 11am. Seniors at 2pm. Plenty of @melbournefc boys to play!

Possibly Dean Kent, Dom Barry and a few rookies, I would suggest.

With a few showers and a top of 22 predicted and a reasonably empty car park, it should be a stark contrast to last week.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
