Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2Day FM Prank ends in tragedy

I used to listen to Fox FM most of the time but recently gave up as i was overcome with 'gossip' cr@p and advertising shoved in almost everywhere they can get it. When the news and weather reports started including ads, i cracked it... Now i just listen to Triple J in the car and purely music digital stations at home...

Yep, that's exactly what I was talking about before.

Better technology means more choice. Hopefully that means more people will choose not to listen and the FM stations will need to adapt or die. So we may get the result of having less crass entertainment broadcast without having to legislate to get that effect.

I wonder how their ratings stand right now compared with 10 years ago? I would have thought lots more people would plug their mp3 players into their cars and listen to those than before. Or maybe rating don't take those people into account but they just look at who is listening and divide the numbers in, not the whole population including who is NOT listening. In which case their numbers would in theory look good, but less people in reality would be tuning in.

I would suggest that retaining the youth market is an issue that keeps companies like 2day FM up at night. I guess like newspapers, they may start to become redundant.

Prank nurse 'critical of hospital' in one of three suicide notes

An apparent suicide note left by a nurse at the centre of the royal hoax phone call was critical of staff at the London hospital where she worked, while a second letter dealt with the actions of two Australian radio presenters involved, according to a report.

Jacintha Saldanha, 46, was found dead at staff quarters near King Edward VII hospital in central London, just days after taking a prank phone call from 2Day FM,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

A coronial hearing into the mother-of-two's death was told in London on Thursday morning (local time) that investigators found three apparent suicide notes, handwritten by Ms Saldanha.

One of those notes was addressed to her employers at the hospital and "contains criticism of staff there", The Guardian reported, adding that it had received the information from two separate sources.

Another note dealt with the hoax call made by the two Sydney radio presenters, who posed as the Queen and Prince Charles in the prank call, while a final letter detailed Ms Saldanha's requests for her funeral, the newspaper said.

Two of the notes were found in the apartment where Ms Saldanha died and one in her belongings, and police have given Ms Saldanha's family typed copies of the letters, The Guardian said.

Scotland Yard is investigating a number of emails which the inquest heard were relevant to the nurse's death.

Detective Chief Inspector James Harman told Coroner Fiona Wilcox that police were investigating whether telephone calls made to and from Ms Saldanha's phone in the days before her death could throw any light on her death, however the details of those emails and phone calls were not released at the brief hearing in London.

Nurse's suicide note blamed the 2Day FM DJs

THE nurse who committed suicide after the royal hoax phone call left a note telling the two DJs behind the prank they were responsible for her death.

In one of three apparent suicide notes, Jacintha Saldanha, 46, expressed her anger at 2Day FM presenters Mel Greig and Michael Christian, blaming them for her death.

Ms Saldanha was found hanged at London's King Edward VII's Hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was being treated for severe morning sickness.

"God knows what went on in her mind," her sister-in-law, Zeena, said in India yesterday. "Maybe she thought she had been made such a fool. We didn't even know about the prank call."

Her mother, Carmine, is devastated by Ms Saldanha's death.

"I can't sleep, I just want Jacintha," she weeps as relatives sit by, helpless in their grief. "What can I do?"

The Mail on Sunday reports one DJ phoned the hospital within an hour of the call and told Ms Saldanha they had played a prank that would be broadcast.

The revelation she had been duped is believed to have left the nurse, who had no media experience, feeling confused and agitated.

Ms Saldanha's body arrived in her Mangalore hometown. She will be buried in Shirva.

SCA are still in a lot of trouble...They thought this would Blow Away...(As if) but it hasn't

The Board of SCA will have to walk, it's a matter of when, they still refuse to apologize..Bit like Howard saying "Sorry"

Sounds like a perfect storm of factors to me, not one soul reason.

Exactly. Talk about an obscene media circus over the tragic fragility of one individual. Appalling standards all around

Fish rot from the Head.

and was on depression medication

it always had to be something like this. "normal" people don't kill themselves over that sort of prank

I think I said earlier in this thread that there MUST have been some pre-existing issues .

I'm still loving the commercial jocks being strung up and criticised all over the world .

The ledger is far from even .

The amount of commercial radio that has been inflicted on me over the years is criminal .

Keep up the abuse of these turkeys and their ilk.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
