THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

Do we hear whenever Caro goes out to dinner? Who she eats with? (Probably alone).

I would put far more credence on her utterances were Schwab, her nemesis, not involved.

i have noticed though that she is often quite ashen faced. i wonder what that indicates?

sullen and ashen faced?

The AFL didn't have to act on McLean's comments .

They did. It was as much the reaction to McLean's comments as the comments themselves. They couldn't turn a blind eye.

And what's been done is done.

What if Vlad had of been around ?

He would taken the heat and knocked it on the head - just like he'd done a number of times before .

Anderson got ahead of himself - and now he's gone . Where is he now ? Why would you give up a plush job at the biggest sporting organisation in the Country ? On good coin I might add . He was with the AFL for 9 years - why would they suddenly move him on unless they had a decent reason ?

Here is an article from the 'ABC' upon his resignation . Could have posted the photo but it's in the article - he doesn't look very happy and he also said this ...

"I've got a few ideas, there hasn't been a great amount of time for looking and pursuing other opportunities.

The bit from your post that I've highlighted is correct - but as well as that, it's not over - not by a longshot

wasting your time Macca, as i said before Vlad could have stopped all this with one phone call even after he landed back at HQ.

But has not done that.

He has allowed it to roll without a word.

can we please get back to fighting the powers of evil and not ourselves

and no this is not a victim statement

man the barricades.....vive les démons

In a way youre right. The horse had bolted. This was a gamble AA had made imho. i.e that once out it would have to continue. AA thought he had AD in a catch 22.

AA thought wrong. Im not sure actually that AA did much quality thinking ever.

The 'Net' is killing off newspapers . And the only way they can survive is by having a more 'Shock element' to their stories .

A comparison of that could be the UK - but the 'Shock element' is more to do with competition from the many other publications .

Publication decreases because of online reading - up goes the trashy stories ...

Yes,,, but why do people stop buying the papers all those years back?

Because people started not believing the rubbish, & also the favoritism shown to some.

On top of this you had to pay for a paper that was increasingly filled with 60% adds on a page of newsprint... 40% story & 30% rubbish.

and pay for it & waste your time searching thru it for something worthy..... spoils the coffee.

Who said it was ?

Well, quite a few have ruled a line through us . Many have in the media and in fact, a certain percentage of people on this site have done the same . The term 'Ruling a line through us' is open to interpretation .

I wasn't being personal .

Edit : I've added a bit more to my post #1131 if you want to go back and peruse it.

The fact that he hasn't said much is quite telling, don't you think ? Normally he's a bit of a head kicker (or he's been known for that 'On occasions')

Thats because its gained legs.

only because the CEO remained silent.

One phone call would have killed it off.

oh yes this was not HIS doing but by remaining quiet and letting it roll he will be remembered for it long after Angry Anderson has faded from memory.

Vlad would have followed all this from London.

He is not that silly.

plus you forgot to say that the price of quality toilet paper dropped dramatically further reducing the usefulness of newsprint

Tjhe AFL imo wanted to put an end to the 'Priority Pick' & "List Managtement" sagas.... its hurting the games integrity...

A leadership is planned & a while back AA scuttles the Priority Pick. following this sometime down the track, the NRL chase McLauchlan. an AFL handover is imminent, & IMO the leader & his sergeant are to step aside, but first to leave the place ship shape for the incumbent to start a fresh page.

Head honcho goes on holiday as his sergeant at arms clears the table top & wears any shrapnel.

AFL launches Demons tanking claim probe
  • July 31, 2012

The AFL has launched an investigation into claims made by former Melbourne midfielder Brock McLean that the Demons tanked in 2009.

McLean had admitted winning was not a priority for the Demons during that controversial season under former coach Dean Bailey.

Acting AFL chief executive officer Gill McLachlan said league operations manager Adrian Anderson would interview McLean, who is now at Carlton.

"The AFL has resolved that this matter will be addressed by the general manager of football operations, Adrian Anderson," McLachlan said in a statement.

IMO this is a directive from the commission prior to the changeover of ceo leadership... we were seen as soft targets & the collateral damage.

they hadn't bargained for Jimmas legacy, & the fightback of a few sleeping Demons...

oh yes this was not HIS doing but by remaining quiet and letting it roll he will be remembered for it long after Angry Anderson has faded from memory.

You may be right and of course Vlad isn't silly - he's street smart and should never be underestimated . My take on it is that Vlad's behavior right now is somewhat different to how he normally behaves . Is it because he's been somewhat entrapped in this whole affair and feels that any sort of comment might in fact incriminate himself ?

He was forever shouting from the rooftops that "There's no such thing as tanking" . My gut feel is that he's laying low . A compromised solution to this whole saga may probably eventuate . Might even be done in a quiet way .

And the Kewpie Doll goes to........ :)

I can't see the media letting this go in a quiet way.......The AFL are damned if they do and damned if they don't......But it's got to finish up soon......

Yes please!

Yes, you're probably right about the media, Bossdog . But if we get out of all this in reasonable shape then who cares what the media says or does (after a hopefully, positive result for the club) Once it's over with the AFL , it's over .

You can't get tried for the same offence - or can you, in today's AFL ? -_-

No the media will hang on to this till the very last drop of blood has been sucked.

eg. Todays article in the HUN just keeps the same story ticking over...idling & warm until the vultures return from the Christmas Feast

Some will be returning this week others once the Tennis is finished...

The one thing the media do not know anything about is what the MFC reply will be...no leaks there.

The Rats were obviously old employees or fabricated discussions Wilson added some colour too....the pack then followed.

I think that's why I used the word 'also'.

Believing the world is out to get us, that Melbourne as a club is being treated differently to another club in the same situation, that the AFL wants to 'cut us from the pack', that the media hold us particularly in contempt, and disparaging individuals who hold a contrary view without rational argument ... they're all elements of paranoia and/or 'group think'.

We've got to get over this rubbish before we can believe we're the equal of other clubs. There's a heap of good things going on at Melbourne now, and I don't really want to be part of a pessimism derived from four years ago.

Good post Maurie agree totally, to easy to always blame someone else for problems

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
