THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

That , if you dont mind me suggesting is a mighty big throw-away pass there..."but so what ?"

Nicely said belzebub.

Because of that - one of Melbourne's dailys ran a front page article condemning the "pathetic and disgusting MFC". Potential sponsors who mightn't bother with the detail of the sports page - and wouldn't know Caroline Wilson from a bar of ( sour) soap - see that .... and remember it.

It hurts our brand - that's what!!

She very obviously has a beef with CS and the MFC. She very obviously doesn't appreciate good reporting skills or writing, but so what?

That's her prerogative and she is allowed that.

Edited: Ps, I'm not condoning her journalism, but she is entitled to an opinion and prerogrative... as much as it pains me to see the end result of the two

The "sow what" is the damage that she causes to the club; others read this, apart from Demonlanders and they range from Sponsors, potential Sponsors, potential recruits and potential supporters so it affects all we do.

just the double standard applied which you yourself agree are apparent. This to me is the point of conjecture.

I think I said that what Carroll did and what Edwards did was different enough to warrant the different approach. But I agree, she doesn't go for all clubs in the same way.

If you don't rate her why are you upset if she attacks Schwab? For all your outrage she's not really hurting us is she. She's been after Schwab for years with no success.

And Bub, I think that Schwab is below "best practice". I want what's best and think we can do better. But really, so what because the majority here seem to be happy with what he and others are doing but I must say they seem, as you do, to be very worried about one voice of decent.

And just for the record AAMI was initiated by Gardner and Harris.

Robbie don't worry, I've no intention of standing for the Board. You can maintain your rage with me and think I'm "anti MFC" with confidence.

The fact that Schwab is still our CEO is hardly evidence that Wilson isn't hurting our brand. Please ..................

I dont have to rate her as a journalist Fan in order to recognise her as venomous to this club. Again you wish to tie things together thay arent warranted.

If there is better for our club lets endeavour to find them but what might have this "better" achieved of late? What outcomes or achievements ?

I don't give a fat rat's about you, there's no rage I just don't want you near the club.

You typify the agenda driven few on here that are more about revenge than "Best Practice" so don't try to pass it off as concern. If Schwab stuffs up then he will go, but it will be at the hand of the members not Wilson and those that dislike him for the sake of it.

If you really think accusations presented as fact, calling our club pathetic & disgusting don't hurt it then you are kidding yourself.

Hopefully the thread will stay on topic and not derail into BS discussions about administrators and histrionics which you seem to enjoy. Fact is that from an external view looking in most things are pointing in the right direction.

Right now there is tremendous pressure on the AFL.

To my mind the leaks have come from Hadda din order to justify his existence.

I MFC are found guilty then the AFL face legal ramifications, which will be a can of worms, and

if found not guilty then the MFC will go after the woman

for damaging the brand which will embroil their employee who they will have to support.

This will become known as Sirengate after Wilson who surely is one.

Democracy is only as strong as . . . . . . .

Interesting to see how some to choose to deal with a dissenting voice.

And ironically in a thread dedicated to questioning the quality of one of the most important instruments of a healthy democracy.

If Demonland was a microcosm of democratic society, I think I'd be tempted to move to Bomberblitz or Tigerland.

Surely everyone has the right to express a view on this forum that may well be contrary to the views of the masses.

Congratulations to those in this thread who've played the ball. The rest may want to apply for the next cadetship at The Age.

Of course they are and others have the same right to disagree with that view.

Or are only the dissenters entitled to express their view?

They certainly are as is anyone to question the validity .

Questioning the validity is one thing. Telling someone to stop supporting the club they've served on a voluntary basis is another thing as is telling a moderator (awesome job that receives amazing amounts of thanks) to give up their position.

We do it pretty well on here, GV.

If a couple of gone over the top in the last couple of pages it is out of frustration.

Same crap different day.

But hey, that's what being an MFC supporter is all about.

yeah she seems to be into Adelaide now. Mind you that's getting worse for Tippet and co. Its nice to have another club in the paper. But it will be interesting to see what happens with us after the tippet saga has ended. Im guessing the focus will be back on us.

sure we could still be whacked hard. But i am still waiting for solid evidence rather than personal vendettas...

You obviously missed the last line of my post.

No I didn't, it's just that it's difficult to do that when the man on the other side is playing a different game to you; when I see him happy to see the club go down as long as he gets his man, I realise he doesn't care about collateral damage.

Also when you see something that is clearly black and white you have to question the dissenter if he calls it yellow.

- and the salient facts are Carlton's fade out ( with Fev on the bench ) against our hard-finish in the Kruezer Cup

We need to get our facts right.

Carlton did fade out inexplicably in the second half of 2007 but it did not do so in the Kreuzer Cup with Fev on the bench. Fev was benched against Collingwood some weeks earlier than that game but he was sent off for surgery and conveniently was missing for the Blues over the last few weeks of the season.

People can blame Melbourne officials like CS for supposedly being grim-faced after a win or CC for saying things which might three years after the event be taken out of context, but I don't regard that as being grounds for criticising their performance or justifying the utter visciousness of Wilson's attacks on them and the club.

Moreover, there is no justification for excluding Carlton and a number of other clubs from the same lengthy and rigorous scrutiny as that under which our club has been placed. I'm sure that given four or so months of KGB-like attention from over zealous investigators and media people with agendas, that stories can be embellished and anyone can be made to look incompetent if facts are twisted to suit a particular angle. In the case of Carlton, I know of at least one board member from that time who was careless enough to lay it on the line weeks before the Kreuzer Cup that his club's game was to tank in order to maximize its draft position. I know this because the (now former) board member told me so.

But apart from 15 minutes of questioning of Tony Liberatore that resulted in a dismissive outcome, the Blues remain untouched even after Fevola's revelations in his book. The fact of the matter is that the AFL in giving such a narrow interpretation to what it called "tanking" turned a blind eye to a practice that went on for the better part of a decade and which should have been nipped in the bud long before 2007 when Carlton turned it into an art form.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
